While ive shared shots of the philly skyline before,i have never had a southern view until this was shot yesterday![]() The building on the right is the soon to be demolished Spectrum, home of 2 76'ers NBA championships in 68 and 83 along with 2 stanley cups by the Flyers in 72-73 and 74-75 and some other noted championships as the calder cup for the phantoms. Bruce springsteen has had 45 sellouts here and billy joel 46 amongst other lengendary rock performers from the rolling stones to the who in the past. |

Well for one thing, it is now 42 years old. Secondly they built the wachovia center right behind it that holds more people with more modern amenities. Also, the space supposedly is more valuable as a retail, metting and hotel site given that the Wachovia Center, Lincoln Finanical Field (home of the EAGLES) and Citizens Bank Field (home of world champion Phillies) are literally within eyesight of each other. It can be a traffic nightmare from august thru october IF there is both 50,000 baseball fans with another 50,ooo football fans there at the same time. Lucky for those of us who hate traffic, the broad street subway runs right to the corner where the stadium complex is. The spectrum was there 5 years before the broad streeet line was extended and opened in 1972 for the opening of the former Veteran's Stadium that now is a parking lot across from where the new phillies park is located. The stadiums in philadlephia are not too far from the former Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Naval Hospital stood. The Army Navy game used to be played in the 100,000 seat Municipal Stadium later renamed JFK stadium which stood where the Wachovia Center is today. I went to many concerts at the decaying JFK including the Rolling Stones Tattoo You tour, The Who's "first farewell tour" as well as where bob geldolf had the "Live Aid" concert. |

George, I called her to find out what street she lived on Lewis, near Westchester Pike. However, she lives on the beach near me now, in California. |

GEORGE---I second LALA on this one! The tones are gorgeous! Loved your PhotoBucket album. My favorite of all is still the Urn with the glorious Forsythia Spray. Thank you so much for sharing all this beauty with us. GET LOTS OF REST AFTER YOUR BIG DAY YESTERDAY! It will take a couple days to recoup from all that walking and standing, etc. Please be patient and kind to yourself. OKAY? |

Years ago right when i started junior high, i got into a job delivering door to door circulars hung in those annoying plastic bags. Being a greedy hard working money loving kid that i was, i worked my way up to becomming a partner in the firm doing everything from supervising our route supervisors, hustling distribution accounts and got into by accident the production of ads including some reqiuring photography. Normally these were for the very small retailer so it wasnt the high priced ad shoots that one normally thinks of. I did do alot and that helped pay for my undergraduate education before we decided to fold the business. Despite my college courses in business, i honestly thought i learned more from working the inside than in many of my classes. It was a very interesting experience for sure. I would not trade it for the world then nor now. Even for "The Prom", Senior trip or the spring break frenzies hs kids used to go on. |

Janna I just added The Custom House. Doing one at a time since I use two fingers. The only parts of my body that are not sore after yesterday. |
