George, your explanation of taking photos from a blind makes sense...you could have the tripod set up and just wait... these pictures of the two owls I posted are just too perfect for a hand held camera... |

I think George is asleep by now. We hard a very hard day yesterday in Center City, and he kept going long after I left him there for the Hockey Game. What a guy! He's like the Energizer Bunny! He keeps going, and going, and going! |

yes and given the angle of view of a super telephoto is very narrow you have no real way to frame the subject in time unless you know where it is comming from. I am still unable to sleep but hopefully the pain med will kick in soon as i need my beauty sleep ![]() edit: for example the field of view of an 800mm lens is only 3 degrees but the normal 50mm's is roughly 40 degrees so you can see how they differ |

Yep, George. I have them, also. Mine are $350 and Medicare or Insurance will not cover them. How much are they up your way? |

George - lovely photos of the flower show! Sounds like you and Cricket had a great time. Cricket - didn't you get a pic of George, with his camera? Or a pic of the two of you at the show? Prayers for Trish's Mom

Thanks for fixing your slideshow link George They are all beautiful and the textures so realistic from the velvety ones to the waxy. I can almost smell their scent. I could see what you were talking about in a few of those images where the lighting overall was not too great...especially in the gondola/bridge shots. I liked the formal garden with the blooming trees...were those azalea's? Thanks so much for doing all that so we could come along to the show vicariously. I liked your hockey photos too. As a former hockey Mom they brought back memories of sittiing in the stands rooting for my sons teams. and as usual your historic descriptions of the buildings were outstanding too. The only thing missing was a photo of the two of you but I guess you will always be the mystery man to most of us

I am not sure but i think the last time i looked into it, they were in that same price range. I have a diabetic friend who got some "diabetic shoes" which medicare supposedly covers and he said that they were some insane price of about 750.00. He called them "his clown shoes" because of the very large round toe box. He said they did seem to help with his corns and such on his toes but the soles wore down so fast that the $750 that they paid for it was highway robbery and that could be every year instead of every 10 or longer for a 400 pair of orthotics. |
