Panic would have been the case if they had said something Cricket and the fact that they knew it wouldn't do any good anyways and people panicking :8O: is the worse thing that could happen, besides the asteroid hitting of course. :8O:  :8O:  :8O:

Cricket I have to agree with Janna that there would have been pandemonium in the streets if we had all been informed of an impending asteroid hit. Guess we can all forget about being warned ahead of time before any doomsday impact in the future

Asteroid/L.A. Freeways, both are a deathwish. rofl Just like earthquake prediction, being through 3 large quakes in my life, I don't want to know when it's coming. Living on the beach I know the chance of a Tsunami is pretty good in a large quake. I'm surrounded by the harbor, channels and the ocean, no way to get off the beach, I just don't worry about what could happen. Lifes much too short. :o

Oh!!!  And a bit of really GOOD NEWS this morning!!

"Eagle survives crash through truck windshield

For full story:

What a story Marti!!! I guess when an eagle goes after its intended prey NOTHING is going to get in its way.

What is it about Nevada and perilous eagle incidents anyway?

Thanks Marti for the update on the Golden Eagle vs. Truck. Sweet little guy, I hope he has a full recovery. He's a true survivor! :)^ I sure hope he learned his lesson about the highways and vehicles. I only wish Limuw had that kind of luck in Nevada. :'(

<::: Another Eagle Release on Monday March 9th

Posted Image
Eagle #09-0104

This adult Bald Eagle, hit by a car on the morning of February 16, was retrieved from a swamp near I-95 in Greensville County and admitted to the Wildlife Center on February 17 — the eighth Bald Eagle patient of 2009. The Center’s veterinary staff found moderate soft-tissue swelling and bruising, with multiple small open wounds and scrapes on both of its feet. Radiographs found no broken bones.

The eagle is currently being treated with pain medicines and antibiotics. On February 19, #09-0104 was moved to one of the Center’s small outdoor pens for continued treatment and recovery.

The release is scheduled for 1: 30 p.m. at the Dick Cross Wildlife Management Area near the N. Carolina border in Virginia.

Such a great story Penny. I'm amazed how many of these beautiful birds get tangled up with cars/trucks. I had a close call with an owl on a dark road years ago, it swooped at my windshield, then banked off right in the nick of time. I slammed my brakes on not to hit him, whew. :o

Good Morning, Eagle Peeps! :}^

What a great way to start the day - with lots of GOOD eagle news! Wonderful Catalina Update, eagles surviving their contacts with humans - lots of eggs in the nests - AHHHHHHH! :**:  :**:

At Jann's suggestion I have started a Lake Cachuma thread in Cruzer Events so that we can keep all our pictures in one location. Anyone who has visited or will visit the lake is welcome to add their stories and photos...

I sent Dr. Sharpe an e-mail regarding the blurry PH nest. I'm sure he'll have his Northern CI staff check it out. :)^ Although, I'm sure he's aware of the issue out there.

I wonder if one of those eagles did a poop shoot at the camera lense.
