Good morning all. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANTHONY May all your wishes come true as you blow out your candles. For those who want to see pictures of George and I, mine is posted with my Biography. George and I decided that if you want to see us, you should come and visit us. The perfect opportunity will be for The First Annual Easties Get Together in September. We are planning a great time for all who attend. We are adding Hawlk Mountain to the List of places we will be seeing. Bring comfortable shoes and a camera. If interested please put it in the other Thread. Thank you. Thanks again to George my traveling patner of Wednesday for all of the wonderful shots of the flowers, and displays we saw. I will be planting the bulbs I bought Saturdy and Sunday. My Mint has seedlings already so I can make some delicious Sweet Tea this Summer! I can't wait! Still waiting for my Garlic Chives to do something. The one Banana Plant needs to be transplanted so I'll be taking care of that too this weekend as well as my Tea Olive, Cinnamon Tree, and Plumeria I got at The Flower Show. |

Eaglepdia Revisited May 4, 2007 Eagle egg size increases south to north just as bald eagle size increases from the southern part of the species' range to the northern part. An egg in Florida can be from 70 x 56 millimeters to 58 x 47 mm with an Alaska egg ranging from 84 x 60 mm to 70 x 53 mm. The second egg laid within a clutch is slightly smaller than the first and the third is smaller than the second. It would appear that the egg is quite small for such a large bird but studies have found that usually as body size increases, the relative size of eggs decrease. An eagle's egg weighs barely more than 2 percent of the female's body weight, whereas a songbird's egg is typically about 13 percent and several eggs constitute a full clutch! ![]() (click on image for larger photo) "The Bald Eagle" and February 26, 2008 Part I - Most birds have only one ovary and one oviduct. In early stages of embryonic development, each female bird has two ovaries; only the left one develops into a functional organ. In some birds, such as hawks, the right ovary and oviduct usually develop. A mature ovary looks like a cluster of grapes. and may contain up to 4,000 small ova which can develop into mature ova. With fertilization, the ovum (egg) becomes a developing embryo The embryo passes through the oviduct; typically takes about 24 hours. The demand for calcium to make the egg shell is very high, and so the circulating levels of blood calcium in birds are greatly elevated compared to mammals, typically twice as much. http://people.eku.edu/ritchisong/avianreproduction.html ![]() (http://www.wvec.com/news/topstories/stories/wvec_local_021908_eagle_eggs.ae8540e.html - Norfolk Nest) |

I would have just quietly hit the call button, and a flight attendant would be standing there looking at her.

Interesting discussion on the photo video tech thread this am. As a teaching tool to show how much of a good investment a decent photo editing program such as adobe photoshop elements is to save what we may think is an absoutely ucky shot i took the liberty of "adjusting" a spiffy valley scene shot by Topa over there with some minor steps in photoshop. Total time taken was perhaps 2 or 3minutes. Also a brief discussion as to what those of you see with the digital camera called "White balance". With alas sort of a techno babble explaination as to what it really means. Thanks topa for the perfect example to share in helping to explain a couple of ver good points that can be frustrating to some new to digital imaging
