ER:

Yeah the store bought arch supports they call orthotics are fine if one has just minor discomfort. However if one has serious problems custom molded seems the only way to go.

However...A skilled podiatrist can "modify" the store bought ones to provide the necessary lift in the right parts to allow ones foot to strike more correctly.

According to my doctors instructions, I got some by a brand called "Smart Feet" which are sold in such places as REI or Eastern Mountain. From time to time my foot doctor will add the necessary lift or whatever to them and my feet are happier. I however, being cheap, got them from a retailer on line for about $30 via amazon. From the waist down i am a wreck, first the dang thigh fracture, the ongoing problem of my bow legs and my narrow high arched foot rolling out with each step

George, I also have the very high arch plus hardly any "fat layer" over bones in bottom of foot. For two years now I have been working (not much) with Plantar Fasciitis. Anyway, I wanted to share one trick I got from a Ortho Doctor. When I lace my shoes and I get to the area where the laces would cross over the high arch area, I lace up the side and after that I continue to cross to the top. You cannot believe the relief there is just to relieve that small amount of pressure in that area. :ok:

Woo hoo!  There are now two eggs on Saanich nest  :^:  :^:    :**:

Ian I think there actually may be 3 eggs now.

Five days apart seems rather a long time, so maybe another one was laid and buried deep in the bowl in between the first and the last

Here is a screencap by Cora Anne that seems to show 3 :**: :><: :><: :**:

.... I always get annoyed when I push down the shutter and the thing has moved before it's had time to focus. And I like the zoom idea. Is it worth the extra money? Do you know where I might find one that is used???

This delay is the biggest PITA with most point and shoot digitals often called a lag time . A zoom, always allows you to crop your shot in the viewfinder without having to move in or move back such as for shooting a huge group of people.

Personally as i stated in my pm to you, I am not too keen on buying a used digital camera unless you know who owned it in its previous life and how it was cared for. The smaller cameras i suspect often are banged, dropped, bounced and such which with all the circutry in them could cause problems for the new owner. The price of each of those is less than 300.00 so as a snapshooter camera its a good value. The 10x optical zoom would be useful to hopefully capture eagles the next time you get out to catalina too! Alot more usefull than the 5x lumix.

Personally, when they also mention an X times DIGITAL zoom, dont pay that much attention to it. Concern yourself primarily with the OPTICAL zoom such as the 5x or 10x. My old depndable panasonic lumix had the 15x optical and the digital zoom but i wasnt too happy with all the lack of sharpness with the addition of the digital zoom to extend the magnification. To me it just made the pixels largter and fuzzier

Oh i like that tip! Plantar fasciitis is nto pleasant i am told and i hear those foot whinrlpool things one can get in the drug store can help ease the pain in the bottoms of the feet.

I have a great annoyance finding shoes to fit too as a male who wears a size between an 11B and AA. Fortunately with the internet i have managed to find a good source for new balance shoes in my width which the retailers here never bother to even stock and if they do special order them you are charged to the hilt for them. Ive even managed to get new in box new balance shoes off ebay for less than 1/2 the retail price so i am happy when i score that sort of bargain.

SANDIE Yes George and I did have a LOT of fun. What an interesting man to talk to. I had trouble keeping up with him since he has a long stride being 6 foot tall. I'm 5'2'' and shrinking! He kept looking around for me, and I should have said, "George I'm down here!" I would say we walked around the entire exhibit three times. In a way I hated to leave. I love flowers, and it smelled so good there. In another way my feet, knees, hips, well my entire body was hurting. Plus I was getting close to facing Rush Hour Traffic in Center City. NOT GOOD. So after Lunch I told him I thought I'd better get going, and he agreed. We had a marvelous time.

You get ALL OF THAT DEPOSIT BACK! You are entitled to every penny. They have no right to keep it! I would Boycot that place. That is so unfair.

I am sorry to hear The Drug Dealer is out of Jail. Gosh that is scary that they couldn't keep him there. Keep looking, and don't give up.

:><: CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR MILESTONE POSTERS TODAY. GEORGE & PEETIE TOO! :><:

George, NBExpress (put in the dot and ext) is where I get all my casual shoes. And for semi-dress shoes (all I can bear) There are 2 styles at SAS that will take my orthotics. Have you ever been in one of their stores? They have the most sizes I have every seen. My shoes are $115 but on Tues. Sr. get 10% off. :D Anyway, I went to the SAS online site and watched a video of how they make their shoes, by hand, and I'm surprised they can sell them at that price!! Check out their site.

I shall file that for future use.

I am terminally cheap but i really gloat when i get a pair of my new balance shoes for $40 new. If i could recycle terlet paper i likely would do that too. It kills me to spend a huge amount of $$ just for every day shoes. As i know the new balance fit me i can order them online without too much fear.

Yes maybe i am old fashioned but i do like to see how the shoe actually fits that is supposed to be my size. Some brands sizing is not the same as the rest it seems. My foot doctor always said that improperly fitting shoes can be as dangerous as no shoes especially for a diabetic.

Sandi - Get your hands on that application or whatever you signed when you left that deposit. There should be a mention of a grace period that you get so you get your deposit back; Or there should be a clause that says you forfeit your deposit if you're not approved.

Aren't you still going thru the government people for a new place to live? They need to be involved as well if you are unable to get your deposit back from the owners. These property mgmt companies and landlords craft those applications to make money by keeping the deposits.

Makes me doggone  to see people trying to advantage of others.... :BX:
