Mrs Goose - nice blackwater pics. Did you photograph the nest that is right off the main road? Right after you turn out of the visitor center. |

Hmm, seems we missed that nest. The two nests that we took pictures of were down by the Marsh Creek Trail. We did see a few other nests but they appeared to be unoccupied. We don't think the nests we saw had a cam on them at least not that we could see. The osprey nest with a cam is very obvious. We overheard a guide in the Visitor's Center tell a couple asking questions about where the nest was that she could tell them but then she'd have to kill them. I know she was just joking but it seemed a little odd since Marsh Creek trial was posted that eagles were nesting there and when we walked a little further on the trail we were permitted to take we spied the nest we took pictures of.

I have been 3 times... I know I've been to the fall open house, and once in January last year...can't remember when the other time was....might be 2 Open House events. Just love visiting there. The new second level of the visitor center is great.... And nope, you didn't get the eagle cam nest

Paula, I guess that means you know where it is. Any hints for our next trip? How many active nests would you say there are? Half the fun is finding a nest on your own but hints are welcome. We've found five actice nests this season and this is the first year we've looked. Two nests at Susquehannock State Park, one at Conowingo Dam and two at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. We're newbies and having fun learning.

I'm not sure as to when the baby Sandhill Cranes were hatched, but I think they are 4 - 5 days old and really cruising around. These photos were taken on the golfcourse today. We have been keeping an eye on Mom & Dad incubating and protecting the eggs from predators such as alligators. A view of their nesting area.............. ![]() Parent and ...................
