Thanks Jann ... it was LL that grabbed the video camera to record it ... I was too busy in NW trying to keep up with all the switches happening on the nests!

Yes Carole ... we know ... we tend to take them for granted ... and we shouldn't!

should gary and I go to the tar pits - we haven't done that before - I remember jann posting some photos and we have some time on Thurs when we first get to LA .... hmmmmmm

Harpo, they are working on a new find at the tar pits... while building a new parking structure they found new bones from many animals....including wooly mammoth.. they are working quickly to get them safely removed so the "parking structure" will not be delayed too long.. It is in the middle of town, but you guys would probably like it...

I would plan to go at about 10:00 am. Avoid rush hour in am or pm! :o People start getting off between 2:00pm and 3:00pm (alternate work schedules).

You've been warned.

Harpo...Thanks for the location of Catalina Time...I am familiar with the store...just didn't know it's name.

Lala...Have a fun time in Palm Desert...we lived there for three months in the spring of '68 and then sporatically for some years after that...along with 3-4 day conferences along the way...always in the spring when the weather is the nicest...only thing I didn't like was the wind...it would creep in the windows and pile up on the windowsill.

Here are some good Sir Walter Scott quotes-
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive”

"A sound head, an honest heart, and an humble spirit are the three best guides through time and to eternity”

“Cats are mysterious kind of folk - there is more passing in their minds than we are aware of.”

Round a recipe for a 50/50 in a cup! :P

50 / 50 Bar in a Cup

Remember the great orange and cream taste of a 50/50 frozen bar? Here is a simple way to get that same great taste in an easy to make desert.

Ingredients:

1 package (4 serving) Orange Flavor Gelatin
1 cup boiling water
2 cups soft vanilla ice cream
Whipped Cream Topping
Orange Peel Zest

Directions:

In a mixing bowl dissolve gelatin package with 1 cup boiling water.
Gradually stir in 2 cups Vanilla Ice Cream
Whip with wore whisk until well blended.
Spoon into 4 desert cups; refrigerate for 30 minutes or until chilled.

Remove from refrigerator top with whipped cream and sprinkle on orange peel zest.

Makes 4 servings.
