Yes, indeed a chick hatched on Saturday at NCTC ^"^ :**:

Not sure which egg hatched, but frankly I don't care! :D

I wasn't home over the weekend and able to watch...I found out late Sunday night when I returned home.

Here's a pic from Saturday by JudyB at the Maine forum

Edit - And you'll notice the rabbit in the nest....Lib brought yet another rabbit and some other prey item in too on Saturday....That's our Lib! <3

Linda, You are always one of the 'four'. :}^ Now, it may be the Getty Five & Cachuma Five! Remember, you were there Saturday in spirit! :)^ Although, we really missed you. :(

PANDA UPDATE

Monday, March 16
Oh, rainy days! With the weather during the past few days, we’ve kept Yang Yang inside (or else we would’ve had to deal with a grumpy bear, because he’s not very fond of the rain). Mei Lan doesn’t mind the rain so much, and will often just sit in the rock cave at the top of the exhibit, watching the water droplets while munching on her bamboo. Which brings the question: how will Xi Lan react to rain when he’s all grown up? Will he be like his dad and prefer the dry inside? Or perhaps be entertained by the rain like his sister? Pandas are well-suited for the cold and wet with their thick fur, so either way will be fine. I like to imagine that with his fixation for the dayroom water bowls, he might love rain puddles!

Speaking of which, today Xi Lan was able to reach the water bowl without any help from his stepping stool. And because of his increased activity, he followed Lun Lun into one of the inside dens before Kate and I refreshed the dayroom bamboo instead of just staying up in his structure. Our little boy won’t stay little for long, so be sure to come by the Zoo Atlanta panda exhibit before he’s all grown up!

Our Daffodils and my Carrie Bears were just delivered from the American Cancer Society. She's the softest little Boyd Bear ever! Daffodil Days are my first sign of Spring. Maybe about as soft as a newly hatched eaglet!

Deb, I've never been to Boldt Castle before. DH and I want to go back sometime this summer or Fall and do the boat tour of the Castle. From our hotel it looks very impressive. Even though it's still pretty much froze in still.

Thanks for the pictures, it is a tragic story. <3

a bunch of my friends and us'ns went on the Canadian side - swimming/fishing/vacation. We had some free time so took a boat ride thru the Thousand Islands and visited the Castle! It was horrible inside - hardly any renovating had been done - it was just desolate and MT. I haven't followed how much work has been done to the property but would so love to go back - hmmmm sounds like road trip! :D

Good Morning, Eagle Peeps! :}^

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIFER :bday: & JEANNETTE :bday: !!!

Love all the Chocolate talk, Pete & Laurie! :D I knew there was some reason I was single - I don't have to hide my chocolate! :P

Peetie - I keep forgetting to tell you I found the cutest little beanie hedgehog when we were in Pasadena. We were at a shop called Lula Mae's which had tons of adorable (and funny) stuff and I picked him up to look at and couldn't put him down. I'll have to take a picture of him for you, even though you seem totally focused on kitties these days!

Lala - What Vicki said. You'll always be one of the 4, no matter how many there are....
