Hello everyone! Wish I had the chance to get on earlier, but oh well. So, how is everyone? I see a lot of people are going to Cruz get togethers. Wish I could go to one of them! I'm going to Texas in april, but I don't think there's anything planned for Texas, is there? Oh, and happy early St. Patrick's Day! Although I don't really know what is celebrated on St. Patrick's Day. I think it might be when the Irish came to America. I'm half Irish and I don't even know!

I did a couple of short videos of the NCTC eaglet today. Feeding of First Eaglet at NCTC Up Close with the Eaglet at NCTCAnd I didn't think they were too bad.....but.... Steve Chase at NCTC was having trouble with this video he was trying to post to the NCTC blog. He sent it to me and allowed me to post it to youtube. Many Thanks to Steve Chase at NCTC and the Video Production Unit at NCTC for providing the clip... NCTC 1st Chick Noon Feeding with Sound!

Oh Paula, those videos are so sweet! Loved hearing the chirping of a new baby eagle. My heart is melting... My heart started melting with the pictures of Shioban, Penny. I especially love the one of her all wet in the tub. Awww... |

Zach - from Wikipedia Saint Patrick's Day (Irish: Lá ’le Pádraig or Lá Fhéile Pádraig), colloquially St. Paddy's Day or Paddy's Day, is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (circa AD 385–461), one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17. The day is the national holiday of Ireland. It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland and Montserrat. In Canada, Great Britain, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, it is widely celebrated but is not an official holiday.[1] It became a feast day in the Roman Catholic Church due to the influence of the Waterford-born Franciscan scholar Luke Wadding[2] in the early part of the 17th century, and is a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics in Ireland. The feast day usually falls during Lent; if it falls on a Friday of Lent (unless it is Good Friday), the obligation to abstain from eating meat can be lifted by the local bishop. The date of the feast is occasionally, yet controversially, moved by church authorities when March 17 falls during Holy Week; this happened in 1940 when Saint Patrick's Day was observed on April 3 in order to avoid it coinciding with Palm Sunday, and happened again in 2008, having been observed on 15 March.[3][4] Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide by the those of Irish descent and increasingly by non-Irish people (usually in New Zealand and North America). Celebrations are generally themed around all things Irish and, by association, the colour green. Both Christians and non-Christians celebrate the secular version of the holiday by wearing green, eating Irish food and/or green foods, imbibing Irish drink (such as Irish stout, Irish Whiskey or Irish Cream) and attending parades. |

I sure wish I could join the fun this week! I will actually be flying overhead on the afternoon of the 18th as I connect at LAX on my way to San Luis Obispo to visit my grandparents. Sad that I will be a couple of hours away on the 19th...when I'm usually a couple of states away! Am really far behind in Chat, but checking in nightly on the nests. Thanks to everyone for their great photos, videos and notes! It really makes the ending of very long days at w**k much more pleasurable before I hit the hay. Thank you!Lastly, I thought I'd share a fun little video with you that my uncle forwarded to me. I should put it on the Recipe page, and maybe someone has already shared it with you...Anyway, just Google it (too lazy to write the link). It's Dawn Wells (remember, Maryann from Gilligan's Island?), and she shows you how to peel a potato without using a knife or peeler. Google: Dawn Wells Potato Peeling Video. Kind of cool tip for non-chef-life people like me.
