No Elaine, still in my gardening clothes... but getting comfy sounds good right now... we are skipping dinner tonight and having cheese and crackers and whatever else we can find...I've been sneaking See's Candy today so thats why I'm not hungry.... DH snacks at work during day... pops into Starbucks and grabs coffee and one of their little cheese and fruit platters with date-nut bread... thats his lunch but he eats it on the way home most of the time so he's not hungry either ... :)^

Of course the voice of NFL films you know very well the late great John Facenda.

As, yes. John Facenda and his famous "rug" !!! When I lived up there, he was still doing the News. Ya know, I'll bet if we googled him, we could ever find a pix of that 'rug'. rofl

One of the peacocks has decided to roost on top of my house tonight...and now that they have their long tails back, they also have their peacock scream... so don't know how I will sleep tonight... they haven't been on my roof in ages...they usually are up in the pine trees away from my house... will keep you posted...

Lala - Is the screaming part of the courting ritual? You mention they only do it when their tails are back. Heck, I never knew they lost them - not altogether anyway!

I saw the redtail out at Mugu - I "borrowed" the branch camera and just kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't get caught.

And I thought you were saving the See's for a Cruzer Event???

Time for my dinner too so see you all tomorrow....

When I was a kid we had peacocks as watch dogs around the horses. Around March/April, they just go on and on, and scream and yell, and loud. Linda, it may be an earplug evening. rofl

OK... Yes, The See's Candy is for a Cruzer event... I'm a Cruzer... Right???? rofl
I plan on replacing what I ate (4 pieces in two days ain't too bad)...
The male Peacock loses his tail feathers once a year and when he does, he stops screaming.. it's as tho he no longer has anything to brag about... he is quiet from around October until now..... now the 3 adult males yell at every car and truck that drives up the hill... nobody can sneak up on me..... when they lose their tail feathers it is like an Easter Egg Hunt... finding the best ones.. the 'eye' feathers are the best...some are called swords... they are tapered and sharp looking.. they are the feathers that are flat against the ground when the tail up... hope this is not too much tech info for you...

Jill - I was out looking for some clipart today and found this, which made me think of you. Being graphics deprived like I am here at work, I can't always remember what peeps have on their sigs so if you already have this - c'est la vie!.

LOVE it Kathie, thanks! It's running action is the motion of a cheetah, which is my very favorite big cat! I'm snagging it for sure! :D

Jill, is that one of your own shots?? How close were you to them and where was Mama??? :o

Yes Elaine, that is one of my shots. Probably we were very close, within a car length as when they've already eaten, you can drive right up to them as they aren't interested in you! :P I don't remember where Mama was at the time as I took that shot somewhere between 1989 & 1992. :D

Remember Christian the lion being returned to the wild, and the tearful reunion later when owners go to see him?? Full story on MDNBC! They are interviewing the guys today who raised Christian. Amazing good they have done for other animals in Africa as well with their foundation. <3

I am not sure if you remember a philadelphia radio show host who started hosting a radio program for a FRANKFORD grocery store on one of the philly stations. He used the name of the sponsor for his on air name Frank Ford.

He met his wife when he was 16 in 1946 who became a federal court judge for the eastern district of pennsylvania and who is now the District Attorney for Philadelphia Ms Lynne Abraham.

Apparantly he was the first Talk Radio host to actually do live chat. He was last heard on the philly talk station WWDB befoer they changed format and is considered to be a philly broadcast pioneer.

Frank Ford died this past week at the age of 94.

IF you feel nostalgic you can check out the philly radio/tv legends such as vince leonard, ernie kovacs and john facenda at :

www.broadcastpioneers.com

Opps one other oldie but goody often parodied in the early days of saturday night live the late Tom Snyder

This little teenage Coyote appeared as it was getting dark yesterday... was pretty brave staring at me like that.. they usually just run like crazy....

Lala: when we lived out on Bates Rd, we had a coyote that would sit across the road and bark at me while I was on the porch in the evening....creeeeeepy. I always brought my cats in at dusk when we lived out there.

As you know state employees are having to take 2 days off a month without pay.  Lovely stuff in California.

And did you know they have the option to take those days whenever they want....my brother is accruing his and gonna take them all off at once at Christmas time...nice long holiday.

Kathie your redtail shot is very good. :)^ I like the fact he is checking you out very intently. Your photo is sharper than the one I posted by Mike Inman....he must have been very far away from that 'just before the poop' shot

Loving your Safari photos too Jill. I always wanted to go on a Safari but lately I don't seem to be that interested. Just too much trouble in Africa all over the place and there are the 'poaching' issues which really make me very, very upset. I've been getting my fix by watching all the African cams instead when I have the chance to. :D
