The Dr. said Gabriel (our cockatoo) must have gotten her toe caught in a toy, which caused a cutoff of the blood and tissue death. She has to have her toe removed tomorrow. Her cage is bare right now so we can check out her toys. We thought we were so diligent about toys we put in all of the parrot cages. We've had parrots living with us for 9 yrs and we always made sure that the toys were safe or so we thought. The Dr. said the smallest piece of string could have caused this. All toys seem to have some danger possibilities to it. All toys hang from something that could cause a parrot to get tangled in. I can't just take all the toys away. Anybody else here with parrots know of toys that are injury proof? |

Deb - what a beautiful pic of Whitley and Reese with their Grandpa - they are such beautiful children - glad they are doing so well. Love the pic of the Alpaca's - I have received many alpaca kisses - nice kisses, not spit, from the alpaca's a friend of mine has on her ranch in Solvang - this is the time of year for more babies. Eaglehandler - So sorry to hear about Gabriel having to loose a toe - hope everything goes well - can't help you with any advise though about toys. MIB - You are still a young'un compared to me - even when you reach your milestone tomorrow. Deb - by the way, DH said for you not to follow the directions I gave you to our house on 3-27-09 - says he has read what I sent and I always seem to leave something out or are telling you to turn a different direction - just google it.
