Panda Update Wednesday, March 18 Yesterday, Heather and I were able to collect current measurements on the ever-growing Xi Lan. Keep in mind that these results may be slightly off due to the wiggle factor, as it is hard to get exact measurements when the subject is in constant motion. His body length (from tip of nose to tail base) is 89 cm. (35 in.), tail length is 11 cm. (4.3 in.), neck girth is 41 cm. (16.1 in.), chest girth is 53 cm. (20.9 in.), belly is girth 62 cm. (24.4 in.) and nose pad width is 5 cm. (2 in.). He currently weighs 12.2 kg. (26.9 lbs.). All of this growth is a result of him consuming Lun Lun’s milk, as this is still Xi Lan’s main source of food. We have, however, seen him chewing on leafeater biscuits during the past week or so. We can’t tell if he is actually eating the biscuits or just chewing on them. But I do know that yesterday he found one of Lun Lun’s banana pieces, which he proceeded to eat and just like Mei Lan; he sucked it down, since he does not yet have the chewing concept figured out. Kate Roca Carnivore Keeper II The great lengths Xi Lan goes to for a back scratch! |

Good morning Eagleholics. The sunshine is back here in the Adirondacks. Love it. Life is good. Lots of activity at all the BRI nests this morning. Activity at both eagle nests and at the Peregrine Falcon nest. Busy Busy Busy. those blackwater twins. Waiting for hatching at Norfolk.

happy birthday to you and the others! I am considering a road trip , or in my case a train trip late may or early june with cameras in two out to the Rachel Carson Building in harrisburg to shoot the perigrine falcons as they should be about to fledge, My research indicates that it may be a perfect locale to shoot given the proximity to the harrisburg train station and the grass lawn out in front of the state DER building. Hopefully, I will be able to get some shots of the chicks and parents. Anyone else in the nearby enviorns who might be interested, perhaps a falcon meeting for us east coast cruisers could be done?? Mrs, just remember we dont get older we only get better!

Doing well this morning! Thanks for asking. No migraine today so thats a good thing. They are really frustrating when they hit because i can go a relatively long time before getting one. Then when i get one and get rid of it the wondering as to when the next one will come along and get me. Theyre really odd in that i can get one or i can get a whole string of them and go a few months before i get another. I dont mind getting one migraine but when I get a series of 3 or 4 over the course of a week i really get grouchy Went out on the bicycle this morning to pick up a few grocery itemss and to go to the bank and the leg felt great. The modifications the podiatrist made to one of my arch supports seemed to stop the shin splints i have had recently too. With any luck, this will stop all the foot pain ive been getting. If so, then i will have him make the plaster casts of my feet and get the custom molded orthotic arch supports which should keep my feet happy for years. This will make it more fun to carry my cameras around to shoot more photos. In the past i have been known to go walking all over shooting things that catch my eye. I hope to be able to find nesting birds this spring for shots too. Normally I get at least one or two nesting American Robbin nests but i want other birds to shoot too

Lovely crocus shot there peetie! tack sharp! They look like the ones that are popping up all over my lawn here now too I wonder if these are the ones where they harvest the herb Saffron from? If they were and i knew how to harvest them i think it would be a very expensive crop here for me
