Thanks for all the photos from last nights big bash...nice to put a face to a name.

Our outing last night was planned as a treat for Grandson...out to get him a lobster dinner. He has had lobster but since it is rather pricey he usually settles for another less expensive menu item when he is with his family. We told him what our plans were and the first thing he asked was if we could invite his sister...well, of course. Sister is a senior, doing all the senior things on and off campus so since all the attention is on sister now we thought a night out for him with his favorite food item was in order. Off to the restaurant and, as expected, he ordered lobster. Time passed and soon an enormous RED lobster on an even larger plate was placed in front of him. Out came the cameras...lots of quiet laughing (well, some very loud out bursts of jocularity couldn't be helped)...contemplating a plan of attack...hummmmmm. A febble attempt with the lobster cracking thingie was not doing much of a job so it was decided to ask the waiter for help. What a show this guy put on for us...a super lesson with excellent results...and now we all know how and where to crack the lobster. In the end, GS wasn't quite expecting a full lobster (I think DH and I knew that but wanted to see how GS would handle this situation)...maybe something a little different but we decided it was a fun evening and a lesson for all...even those at the neighboring tables. Granddaughter decided two desserts were needed to end our evening so she ordered a couple of sinfully delicious items, chocolate cake with ice cream and a monsterous choc-chip cookie topped with even more ice cream, both drizzled with choc. sauce...both devoured in the blink of an eye. GD (previously mentioned "sister") will most likely be going to college away from home, possibly New York or New Jersey, and I know her brother will miss her.

OK we're so far behind but maybe tonight we can take a little time and do a bit of catching up.

In the mean time - we'd like to say it was great seeing folks at the dinner last night and of course meeting up w/Barb & DS again! :**:

We had no issues flying into LA on Wed night - off to the hotel and bed - early start yesterday.

Got to visit La Brea Tar Pits - that was kind of cool (and stinky) and then up to Griffith Observatory (foggy so not a huge view but nice) and then toured the Gamble house (son of Mr. Gamble of Proctor & Gamble and then the eldest son took over the house who then gave it to the town/USC or something like that) very cool! (thanks MIB for helping us get there :bld: )

And of course you all know by now that the surprise for the dinner on Thurs was that Steffani was able to pop in! :<S><: That was just awesome!

Today up bright and early and off to San Diego! We stopped Salk Institute and did a super tour by a very informed lady! What a great design and concept! Now at our hotel.

We've found 2 caches - 1 other was MIA and 1 other was overrun by landscapers so had to pass it up. Hoping to find a few that are here in the area around the hotel!

WHEW!

WHEW is right Deb. I'm thrilled that Steffani could come and meet up with all of you. Sorry I couldn't run away last night. But it was class...did get an A in midterm test. We have missed you today. Well, others too! Have never been to tar pits. Stinky is right. Foggggggyyyyyy here too. Had a smidge of sun earlier and now all gone. Not foggy on the PH nest. I expect that later on. Glad you were able to find your way around and with such great tours. DH must be in paradise....oh wait you ARE in paradise.

Enjoy.

Was the surprise visitor last night Sibohan?????  It looks like you all had a woderful time.  Wish I could have been there!

The 'surprise' visitor(s) were Steffani & Nancee. It was so much fun having them both with us! Only 1 person has e-mailed me with the answer to the 'mystery' guest....the correct answer too.

edited to correct spelling of Nancee's name. Sorry, Nancee.
