And on our flight back, this gentleman allowed us to be guest on his flight.  Anyone reconize him?  Before takeoff he came thru the plane to shake everyone's hand.  Very nice guy..  He and his men (secret service) really get the job done.  We were first in line for takeoff.

Great shot of President James Earl Carter! He really seems like the proverbial Southern Gentleman to the hilt! The only time I ever had the chance to see him in person was when Ronald Regan was inaugurated in 1981. :)^ :)^ :><:

He is a true southern gentleman... after he came thru the plane speaking to each and everyone, we all :><: :><: :><: . It was kind of him to do that.. :)^

How are you George?? I hope your headache is gone...

re: Pres. Carter on plane: I saw it mentioned on a TV show, that he does that every time he flies. True humility and graciousness.

I went out again to look for some red-tails and to practice again with the camera. I know the person behind the camera was an improved factor this time, although it was counterbalanced a bit by poorer lighting conditions - it was rather overcast and dull today:

George, today I tried setting up the camera differently - I shot this time in shutter priority mode at 1/640s, with center point only AF, AI servo AF mode, and center weighted metering. This gave me an ISO of 400 and an aperture of f/13. Definitely a sharper result than the last time.

I still need to work on shots in motion though - when the bird is moving I'm not yet getting crisp clear shots. A shot like this would be great if I could get it crisp and sharp:

Yet more challenging are panning shots, which also need some work:

However...in front of the Eagle Enclosure they struck up The Star Spangled Banner and according to the radio reporter as if almost on cue when they finished the Bald Eagle spread his wings and appeared to take a bow as the crowd cheered.

Wish i had taken the trip into philly to see the festivities

OMG! I hope that shows up in YouTube!!!!!

Mom always preferred to use a decent sized handbag with sharp corners to jab her way thru to get the goodies.

George, nowadays if you do that, you're liable to get jabbed back with more than a purse!!

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people.
He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?
The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’
