![]() this is one i captured but it is rather brief and you can see the fuzz ball in the beginning by moms talons in the shade. At the time dad was installing crib rails to the nest rim you can see the eaglet in the frame above by mom along the bottom of the frame edited: I think too that you can see piping on the egg to the right of the eaglet as mom gets ready to resume covering our new arrival and the unhatched and now hatching second egg. that black spot on the egg looks too irregular to be grass and it sure does look like a hole to me we may have eaglett two by tomorrow sometime

George, your link is broken. Did you edit your post? You can't do that with Photobucket videos. |

Peppermint, yes, the whoopers have transmitters (until they wear out or drop off). There is a tracking team that will be following them back to Wisconsin, but from a distance. |

I stepped out around noon to run some errands and missed the first sighting of the chick. I am happy to see one chick has arrived with another soon to follow! The 1st egg hatched this afternoon (Saturday Mar. 21st) at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. We believe that the hatching occured between 12:00 and 12:30pm but the female's attentiveness made it difficult to get a clear view. A second egg has pipped so we'll expect to it hatch sometime soon. The entire hatching process can take up to 24 hours so we are unsure when the 2nd hatchling will make it's debut. posted by VDGIF Wildlife Biologist at 4:08 PM |

I am so saddened by the passing of Aline. I used to use French words with her on the forum as she lived in Quebec City and I am originally from Montreal and we both spoke French. Her love for the eagles and all wildlife will live on in her memory. Rest in Peace Aline, you will never be forgotten.

Has anyone ever made a garden journal? I try to do one each year for comparison, also, since I am so anxious for the different flowers to bloom I can look on the previous years journal to see how long I have to wait for the flowers. I have jasmine running along a low fence which divides my neighbors property and mine and it is in full bloom now. The bloom spikes usually begin to appear at the end of Dec. for mid-Jan bloom. In Dec. the next door neighbor's gardner must have needed something to do and not realizing the jasmine was planted on my side, took the hedge trimmers and whacked it down about 9 inches...grrrrrr. It is 6 weeks late in blooming but, to my suprise, it did come back and looks wonderful. My freesias are nearly finished, too. Aline's picture was one of the first I came two when I first began reading the bio's here on the forum and she looked so much like my German grandmother. Chiquita |

Both parents on the nest at Norfolk. Big fish delivery too! I just got my first live glimpse of the newly hatched chick. I'm so excited!
