What beautiful pictures this morning...rainbows are so infrequent here in So.Ca that capturing them seems to be a race against time...

Wow, Lala...the table setting at RG is so lovely, as is everything they do. I love using the light beige quilt as the tablecloth with the dark open back chairs...white cushions on the chairs to match the floral arrangements with just a hint of silver in the stemware and chargers. Did they have other themed table settings?...I must take a day and go up...I always get so many ideas there.

It's good to hear there's rain north of us....maybe it will make it down here, although, often we just get the tail end of the storms resulting in a light drizzle.

Jillers...I enjoyed seeing the old truck and the old gas pumps...fun times with the car clubs.

Some terrible eagle battles happening at the Maine nest this past week :o

Looks like an intruder female was trying to get Mom off the nest on Saturday. Dad comes in to help defend and gets whacked by the attacking eagle...Mom gets hit with full force, flips upside down off the nest and the attacker goes with her where the battle continued off camera :o :o :o

At this rate, eggs may not be laid again this year. I can't imagine that there would be no injuries from an attack like this either :'( :'( :'(

This is an animation by CLC

There are too many eagles hanging around this nest...I think they counted 7 on Friday and two of those were immatures who keep coming into the nest too

Edit to add this quote from Dutch Eagle Fan "An immature female in the nest, Dad comes in but doesn't really fight her, because he knows Mom will take care of cleaning out the nest. The battle is mainly for the nest and territory, including the male. Let's hope the immature will back down and move on."

Lots of differing opinions...oh for some wing blings...It really is a soap opera
:(

Thanks for the welcom, Petra! Since finding the eagles a few days ago, I've been glued to the cam! (The PH cam). I already feel motherly toward them.....! I'm getting NO housework done! :o But I don't care! I love these guys, and so glad to see these most majestic of creatures returning in such numbers. Yes, I certainly will enjoy, and try to contribute my humble observations. :D

yesterday on the 14th floor of the Rachel Carson Office building of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Lil Ma the female peregrine falcon laid her first egg. Apparantly, unlike our eagles who start incubating almost as soon as the egg has been laid, the peregrines tend to wait until the full or most of the clutch has been laid.

here is a video of Lil Ma and her egg captured this morning

San Jose City Hall Falcon Cam is online and Clara has taken a new mate, Esteban Colbert, (after Stephen Colbert of course) after Carlos did not show up for another nesting season.
Clara is now incubating her first egg as well.

These are Kay's local pair.
