Whooper Update: Here is a beautiful video clip of four whoopers from the Class of 2007: #703, 707, DAR739 and DAR 742. They were filmed recently in southern Georgia. Dance for Joy Video The 2008 chicks are still at their pensites in Florida. They are taking longer flights but are still returning to the pen to roost at night. Any day now ........ |

Peetie, You can just pretend that you are in the USA. Or.....maybe not! California just had some real rainey and windy weather yesterday. Today, Okalahoma, Kansas and ? Iowa are under a tornado watch (from last night) And now as the snow is melting and the ground is frozen, they are expecting very bad floods up in northern central USA. On the news, it showed them filling thousands of sand bags to put on the banks of the river. (They said the ground was still frozen five feet down), so the water had no where to go except the river, and they expected 40 feet above normal. I can't remember the name of the area (sorry). I know we have a couple of folks from Kansas (me too, now in TX) on the forum. Hope everyone is okay this morning in your area.Peetie, you are not the only one seeing bad weather Take care everyone! |

Marti, I just saw on the news that someplace is calling for volunteers. They need one million sandbags filled. Stay safe in your area. Thanks Petra, Carole, and Cathy, glad you liked the whooper video. Maybe in my lifetime I'll get to see them in the wild like that, I hope so. |

Ah just heard that report about the Red River and Fargo ND on local radio station here. North Dakota has mobilized the national guard to help in flood preparations for sandbagging and for evacuations if needed. Other report was for snow somewhere in the northern great plain states. Are we really in Spring?? |

Marti...yes, So Cali had some very windy and rainy weather yesterday. Thought someone was in my yard several times with all the noise. Only rained in the early part of the day but windy all day. Sunny today but still cold. 44 degrees this am when I came to work. Warm for some of you folks but cold to us wimps in So Cali  Our 5th graders are going to the Body Exhibit in San Diego today. That's the exhibit of real bodies on display. Jim and I went when we were in Vegas and its fantastic! Expensive to go...about $35. or more but so worth it. They have the bodies in different stages and not behind glass but out in the open...all respiratory system, all circulatory, etc. And they have a room with babies which is sad but they warn you before you go in and if you don't want to go in that room, you just have to say so and they will reroute you. Even showed you lungs in different stages of smoking...after this many years, then more years, and final stage. Really makes you glad you don't smoke and if you do smoke I would think it would make you quit immediately. Anyway, I hope the kids appreciate and learn from their experience today. Wish I could have gone with them. |

Hornby egg in view during a parent switch. For myself and several other forum members these were our first webcam eagles.

Cheryl .... Isn't it egg-citing about the Hornby's! I actually popped in on them yesterday morning to capture and add their photos to my greeting for K-26 and saw the egg then. Page 4 yesterday's Chat. Just after I posted them ... I received a PM from Lori saying that that was their first egg of this season. We all wish them the best for this season. |

Pat, their voices sound the same, don't they? I heard them calling and knew it was a Hornby eagle, so I rushed to the computer to get the capture. I had four nests open yet somehow I just recognized their vocalizing. Happy news! I still have to check the rest of yesterday's chat that I missed. |
