Hope all our "under the weather" peeps are doing better this morning. So many are struggling right now. It always seemed to be this way when I was working. In April/May, things always seemed to smooth out. DH and I went to "The Taste of Texas" last night. Great evening! Our friends saved us seats at their table and escorted us in like we were "somebody". They had tables around three sides of the big room with the restaurant/catering company name on the wall behind them. You would go to one of them and choose what you wanted to try (they were very generous) and take it back to the table and sample. Drink a little IP.... Go up to the next booth and get something, etc. They had runners who kept the tables clean of used dishes. They all used clear plastic dishes that looked like fine cut crystal (so no dishes to do) They had a two person group playing the guitar and singing. Kept the place jumping! At the end, they had a live auction to benefit the local high school kids with scholarships Each restaurant would provide something special - like one, on a day that they would be closed to the public, and the winning bidder and a guest would come in to be fed like a king with all the trimmings. (They said it was a great gift for "anyone currently in the doghouse, or about to be") Or - a large pizza of your choice delivered to your home once a month for six months! Or the big grand finale (which we did not stay for) was a leather recliner chair. All funds going to scholarships, but the bidding waaaaaay up there! Met a lot of nice people and had a great time. |

Thank you, Carole, good to hear that you and the other forum members who commented last night found the eagle/whooper story interesting. Glad it had a happy and kind-of comical ending. Bev certainly captured the moment in her writing. Good to hear from you, Deb and Gary. Loved your eagle cupcakes, Cathy, with the egg in the "nest" below the eagle parent. Terrific pictures of all the Cruzers having such a good time together. Geo-caching looked like it was lots of fun, too. Marti, what a good deed the restaurants and attendees did to have the auction for the high school. I read the post from Katie yesterday, about how she is back and working on helping to re-build the homes again, still from Katrina I think. |

Good Morning from Mississippi. Eggciting news about TH. Haven't seen a yet but will try to check in later. Another rainy day. Been a gofer today. Wes just left to go do flooring but they didn't need any more hands so will be heading out to the storage area to put away all the paint supplies from the house we painted. Very green with white trim. Have lots of paint under the nails and in the hair. Starting a new trend. White paint frosting in the hair. Have a great day. We get another night of thunder storms and wind so no sleep again. Fly home tomorrow morning. It's been a very rewarding week but there is still so much to do here. We'll be back next year.
