REALLY NICE PICTURE DEB The Mormon Temple is one of the most beautiful, peaceful sights traveling down San Diego Way. You are on a busy interstate---and there it appears, and the Angel M----- ( I would misspell--so I won't show disrespect by trying) attop the steeples. No matter ones beliefs---it is a theraputic and awe inspiring scene and if you are a passenger, one feels compelled to look back at it every time. Coming upon it on the freeway--is always a special experience. |

Yeah all the LDS temples are interesting archetecturally. They really do their Temples to appear impressively on any city skline whether its in SLC, SD or anywhere else. Theyre finally putting one into the city of Philadelphia just north of City hall but its on a very small parcel of land here. Apparantly Pa is significant to the Mormons/LDS as it was where John Smith was baptized i think |

Linda, I did find those pictures, and shared them yesterday, but I was looking for "more" of the area surrounding the nests. I believe the videos that Jann and Pat lilnked earlier will have what I am looking for, if memory serves me right. I'll get to that later tonight. |

Harpo...The Mormon Temple here in San Diego is magnificent in it's simplicity...and like your photo shows, it looks almost unreal...and yes, it is soooooo white. Before it opened, it was open to the public. We made a reservation for a certain time on a certain day. It is as beautiful inside as it is outside...all done in cream, shades of tan and caramel...light and airy. I'm glad you have such a lovely picture of of the Temple without any traffic on the freeway or nearby road. Chiquita |

The only Mormon Temple in NM opened here when my daughter was 4 or 5. It was also open to the public for tours, and we went. As you say about the San Diego Temple, it was absolutely beautiful. One room held this huge cream-colored ivory "tub" which is used for baptisms. My daughter's eyes got about as large as saucers, and she said, "I would like to have a bathtub like that!" Me too, dear, me too!

Jonas Salk wanted the two sets of buildings on the left and right side of the courtyard - the knowledge that came from those buildings - to "flow" into the central "River of Life" It's a very nice symbolism that all comes together for the good of mankind! It was very awe inspiring that the architect and the scientist gave so much effort in designing the buildings that would be timeless and represent so much considering the purpose of the buildings. |

On the news tonight: Computer Worm Set to Strike April 1 Last Edited: Tuesday, 31 Mar 2009, 6:44 PM EDT Created On: Thursday, 26 Mar 2009, 3:43 PM EDT MYFOXNY.COM - Give your computer a checkup because a virus could be on it right now -- dormant but quietly gathering your personal information. The Conficker-C worm is supposed to become active on April 1 but it's no joke as Fox 5 Tech Guy Brett Larson explains -- and tells us how to protect our PCs (video, left). Things To Know: 1. A Conficker Worm is a computer worm that can infect your computer and spread itself to others across a network, without human interaction. 2. There have been two previous Conficker Worms (Conficker A and B), but type C is considered more potent and stealthier than the previous variants. 3. Conficker-C is considered a logic bomb, which is a worm that is stored dormant somewhere on the computer, with code that comes alive on a specified date (In this case, April 1st). 4. A computer infected with a Conficker Worm generally disables the the anti-virus software and blocks access to computer security websites, such as Microsoft Update. It will also stop pc's from receiving automated software updates. 5. There is a lot that this computer worm is speculated to do, but no one knows for certain. What is known is that on April 1st, all infected computers will succumb to the control of a "Master Computer". Steps to take before April 1st: 1. Make sure your PC is up-to-date with all security and virus definitions. 2. Make sure your anti-virus is running currently; as a Conficker infected computer may have disabled it already. |

Cheryl - thanks for the whooping crane post....made me
too! There is a Mormon Temple in Washington DC, situated right on the Beltway (The road that circles DC). You come around, and there it is...absolutely gorgeous. Very similar in style to Harpo's pic, tho not quite as big...6 spires, I think. Harpo - thanks for the news video on Whitley's family - what an ordeal. Peppermint - how unfortunate to have to take those cookies off your friends hands! |

When the kids moved to San Diego last year they were in corporate housing a half mile from the Mormon Temple. Martin had a great view from his bedroom and called it his spaceship. He was just starting his Star Wars faze. We had to play all sorts of imaginary games with the Temple as the focal point for going out in space.
