You're welcome, Trish. Those two videos never cease to amaze me. Just a sampling of the hikes they take every day during nesting season! To them the 'Death March' is just a stroll on the island.

Then there's the Pinnacle Rock hike video with the 'rock skiing'! :8O: Will have to hunt a bit more for that one.

Jann~Thanks so much for the re post of the two hikes to the nests. I can believe, they are not regretting not having to make those 2 extra hikes this year.
I really should go back to the gym. I'm outta breath just watching those.
:wacko

And I was thinking about the big drop off to either side at West End!! I guess the fisheye camera lens makes it look farther up - but STILL! Yikes!

Thanks, Carole. I love it too. My good friend, Pottyshed, made it for me.

I echo everyone's thoughts about a safe trip home for you & Alan. I will also miss your "Pond Buddy" pics every day!

PANDA UPDATE

Monday, March 30
Today we are testing out the baby-proofing of the outdoor habitat that Heather described in her update last week. Around 8:45 this morning, Lun Lun and Xi Lan made their first trip into the outside exhibit. This was Lun Lun’s first time back outside since before she gave birth to Xi Lan, so she made sure to check out the entire exhibit and smell everything when she first entered the exhibit. Once all was to her liking, she sat down to eat her morning bamboo. Xi Lan spent all morning exploring his new digs. He safely navigated the rocks, climbing in and out of the moat at least three times. He also climbed the small shrub in front of the structure and generally just puttered about. They were given access to the dayroom at 10:45 a.m. and both made their way in shortly after that. Just as we did when we introduced him to the dayroom, we will increase the time that Xi Lan spends in the outdoor habitat with Lun Lun until he seems totally comfortable in the new area. Then they will take turns spending time in the habitats so that all of the bears get to spend some time outside.

I am slowly sorting my emails which arrived while we were away - one is from my niece - Whitley's mom. They did an interview about the dangers of riding mowers and young children, to get the word out - especially with spring arriving on our doorsteps!

many many of you were so instrumental in Whitley's recovery so I wanted to share so that you can see how well she is doing but that the accident did indeed take it's toll......... again - thank you doesn't cover what your prayers and thoughts and gifts did for them all ..... <3

I so love looking at everyone's pictures. Thank you for taking the time to post them.

Deb, Whitley looks great! Thanks for posting the article. With everything the family has been going through emotionally and physically surrounding the accident, I was sorry to read that the dad's military career was also affected. I have forgotten the lineage. Whitley is your niece. Is Katie your sister? Or is the dad your brother?

Good Morning, Eagle Peeps! :}^

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BIGPHIL :bday: & PHALKS :bday: !!!

Deb - Thank you for posting the article & video about Whitley. They went through so much and it makes me smile to see her running around and happy, although I am sure there will be problems for the whole family for years to come. What a shame that this has happened to another family too.

Trish - You and Mom look great and I am so happy to hear she is doing better. Sorry you hab a code dough - get well soon so you & Bev can enjoy those GS cookies!

I got an email - did you get one too?

MSRP Holds a Restoration Symposium

For the first time ever, MSRP is holding a public event that will showcase all of the restoration work we have supported in the southern California region over the last several years.  We will hear first-hand from the biologists and scientists that are completing the on-the-ground restoration work.  Speakers will present on the four main topics of restoration that MSRP identified in their Restoration Plan.  The topics include bald eagle, peregrine falcon, seabird, fishing, and fish habitat restoration.

The symposium will be held on March 31st at the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center Auditorium in Ventura, CA from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
