Since nobody else has started the thread, I had to fly on in and do so,

NBG-Norfolk has mom feeding all three triplets with no greed exhibited by the elders upon the youngest

Frau Storch er stork on the Nuremburg Stork nest camera now has 5 eggs which i got a glimpse of this am

incubation for the white stork is normally 32-35 days of which she does the incubating duty

normal clutch i read was 4 to 6 eggs with 7 comming on rare occasions

Hopefully we shall see :^: today on PH if the Server gods permit us that is. :X: :X:

Good morning. :}^ TGIF It is breakfast time for the Norfolk triplets. I sure hope that a chick appears on PH nest today. :^:

Glad to hear you got a good report from your doc, George.

I am really enjoying your Catalina slideshows, Deb
. You sure did have a beautiful day and took some great pictures of the harbor and the eagles. DH and I visited Catalina in July of 2008. It was a very hazy day and we didn’t have one of those special tours cruzers are so very fortunate to have. The only eagles we saw were Pimu and Heidi, but we did enjoy seeing the dolphins, the brown pelicans, and the harbor seals. It was a very enjoyable day.

Nice pictures of the falls and the elephants, Jill. :><:

Cute kittie, Peetie <3

Have a great day and be safe in your travels today. :D

Eaglepedia Revisited

January 6, 2007

The first egg to be laid is the first egg to hatch and it can take a whole day for the baby to work its way out of the egg more than likely without the parents helping. The broken shells sift down thru the nest as they are broken and crushed by the parents moving around. In a study by scientists, after hatching, the female was on the nest about 90% of the time with the male there about 50% of the time - I know, that's more than 100% but sometimes they are both on the nest! Early in the nesting period, one of the parents was at the nest nearly all the time. The parents will take turns shading the young babies from the hot sun and a parent will brood the babies almost all the time, especially in cool weather, during the first several weeks. Females usually brood more than the male (65% to 35%). On average, about 4 times a day food will be delivered to the nest - more if there is an abundance. The first 2 weeks - dad makes most deliveries; during the next 3 or 4 weeks - the female will provide nearly as much food as the male; late in the period, the female provides most of the food. The chicks will usually lean over the edge of the nest to make poop shots but sometimes they miss or hit each other or a parent! The food leftovers will build up becoming a goopy, stinking mess. Eagles don't know to clean the nest so they will bring fresh leaves and plant parts to cover the mess (dirt under the rug theory).

Topa - Love the doggie photo. I have a shepard mix. Her face looks just like your photo. Pretty funny. Shepard body with beagle face. Savannah, she's a love bug. And of course, my big Bear, he's a shepard mix. Looks like a giant st. bernard. One year old at 120lbs. Thinks he's a lap dog. LOL
Maybe we will see a chick today. Good for a Friday, as most are home and can watch all weekend.
No plans for Sat./Sun. DH working. Maybe spend the day with daughter/granddaughter.
Peetie - So very happy you have your kitty home.
Have a great weekend all.
