I had the PH cam with sound on but watching something else. Heard the parents "talking" to each other in a soft, quiet way. Caught Mom, Dad and Bobblehead! :D

All that wind seemed to blow the cam off to the left (or was it that way?) When the parent is sitting on the nest their tail on the right is out of picture.

Eaglepedia Revisited

February 17, 2007

The hatchlings helpless condition soon changes and he becomes a nestling, growing very fast so that within 3 months, he will become a fully grown fledgling ready for first flight. A bald eagle's rate of growth is faster than any other North American bird, starting at around 100 grams and growing to 4,000-5,000 grams, gaining about 180 grams a day, depending on its sex. By week 3, the hatchling has lost its baby down and now a secondary down which is darker, appears! Its legs turn yellow and in another couple weeks, juvenile plumage will begin to appear. By week 7/8, the down will be replaced with feathers and the bald eagle is fully developed by the age of 3 months!

Deb, super little birth announcement for PH! <3 :^:

Marti, thank you for the compliment about the screen shot. Your family photo is perfect.

Petra, what a good idea to give the kitties a walnut. It is just the right weight to play with, and the sound must be irresistible to them.

Carole, great to see Eagleland and Squish! Thank you! :)^ :clk:

Sara, have fun with the garage sales and the whale-watching.

Enjoy your day, everyone.
