Good monning. :}^ Thank you for all the great captures and video of PH and TH yesterday.

Deb
, I will have to check out the geocaching. It sounds like a lot of fun. Did you see my reply to your comment that Reading isn't that far from Long Island? It's on page 7 of yesterdays chat. We posted a slideshow of our 2008 vacaction but we may have added too many pictures. It wasn't running very well yesterday after they all uploaded but it worked for me this morning. Check it out if you missed it.

Eaglepedia Revisited

November 27, 2006

Eagle chicks are fed a steady diet of fish, supplemented by water fowl (ducks, geese) or water birds (gulls, cormorants). About 85% of a chick's diet will typically consist of fish, the species depending on the nest site (fresh water lake, ocean, river). The adults bring the fish to the nest, tearing it into small strips to feed the chicks. The chicks snatch the food from the adult's beak and swallow it whole. An eagle chick will eat as much as it can at a single feeding, storing food in its crop. The crop is located near the base of the bird's neck, enlarging as it fills, resembling a golf ball.

AND

April 17, 2007

In the first couple of weeks after hatching, the male eagle provides most of the food but both parents feed and brood the hatchlings. If one of the parents is on the nest for an extended period of time, the eagle may call for its mate to come and give a break of duties. The parent not on the nest is usually nearby and there have been observations of the female eventually leving the nest to "dive" at the perching male if he does not respond to her calls for a break, convincing him that it is his turn to brood!

Happy Palm Sunday too to those applicable!

Mrs G, I love Reading!! I go up there every few years to the Mid Atlantic Air Museum's D-Day weekend Air Show held the weekend closest to June 6. Some very interesting "birds" to see there with some interesting beak, er nose art on them. I really should explore Reading more however as it looks rather photogenic from the route in we take :clk:

I am watching the Norfolk triplets enjoy their breakfast right now. Not sure what Momma Norfolk is serving but it doesn't look like fish. Bright sunshine and no wind for the time being. ^"^ ^"^ ^"^

Deb
, Goose and I have been to Hawk Mt. several times but have never had any luck seeing anything other than vultures and small birds. We have better luck seeing redtail hawks close to home. I think you have to be there at the right time to see eagles and hawks. A mini gathering somewhere would be fun.

George, did you ever go to see the eagle nest by the airport? If you posted pictures, I missed it. If I recall the weather wasn't so great the day you had planned on going.
