Vicki/Summer818 and I had a wonderful hike up La Jolla Canyon yesterday! The weather was perfect - warm, with a light breeze and there were lots of wildflowers in bloom. No eagles unfortunately, only a raven enjoying the updrafts over the hills. The only way it could've been better was if it had been less hazy so we could look out at the Channel Islands as we climbed. No matter - we know they're out there! We finished off the afternoon with Kung Pao Chicken and Schezhuan Beef & String Beans at the Chinese Dumpling House. Mmmmm! :Yum:

I'll try to get some more of the pix from the hike edited and into a Picasa album today or tomorrow. I'm definitely kicking back with less physical pursuits today and getting my appetite honed for Yolanda's. Can't wait to meet Ozzie & Elaine and see all my Cruzer buddies tonight!

Kathie, believe it or not I slept in till 9:30 this morning. Thanks for posting our pic, we had such a great time. Laughing up the hill, and moaning down. Can't wait for the next time! I may need to margaritas at Yolanda's after yesterday. See you there at 4:30ish. I'm so glad we did it!

Just another note on our GeoCaching Adventure with Team Harpo on Catalina last week.... try as we might, they wouldn't give up the co-ordinates to us 'muggles'... even under threat by Manu with a WWI vintage machine gun!  Now we're officially 'registered' members and have signed up for the updates to the Peter's Sacred Door Cache so I will be alerted to any activity even it if happens during hours the office is closed. :hide:

ES/Gary looks real scared here, doesn't he? rofl rofl rofl I think he needs to bone up on his acting skills. ;)

p.s. I've checked the coordinates and Dave & I are ready to do some searching for the cache hidden near the SD when we are there this Friday. Think we need to bring his scuba gear? or will hip boots do the trick? rofl rofl

While I can give you the 'hint' that it's not located INSIDE our office (since we actually DO close for a FEW hours every night and wanted the cache available 24/7), it's ALWAYS a good idea to bring hip-boots on any visit

the cache joanie is featuring in her photo today actually is like a 6 parter - you have to find 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 etc. to get numbers for the coordinates to find the final. It's a little historical one that takes you to a couple parks - beach - tuna club - places along the water front and the finale was at - well I can't tell ya - maybe you want to try to find it for yourself! :<::

if you want to see....

Hey all :) Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers..they are all truly appreciated! Today I am alone for the 1st time in a long time and I am enjoying the quiet. I don't even have the radio or any other music playing...just enjoying listening to the sounds from PH. Jim took Linds and her boyfriend, David, and Jossy down to Del Mar Fairgrounds...oh wait, its now San Diego County Fairgrounds  ...to a Classic Car show. Am sure Linds will be taking pics so will try to post some later.

Deb...am loving all your pics! That sunset was magnificent on your way back to the mainland! I hope we get to see one so beautiful when we are there. I am going to try to go to that spot with the Catalina cam  I will stand between the trees near that white arch to the left of the cam view and wave my heart out to you all  Won't be there until the 27th, tho.

Kathie...great pic of you and Vicki! Glad you had a great time on your hike. Yesterday was such a beautiful day here and today is even warmer. It was 80 when I came back from breakfast.

Andrea...loved the nest pics  What a great location that bird found! Have seen little birds find places like that but not bigger birds like that one. There are some chickadees that are constantly flitting in under the roof tiles at the school where I am working for spring break. Will have to see if I can get some pics. They are the cutest things! Not sure they have a nest but I would bet they do.

All the pictures are so wonderful. It's great to see everyone having a wonderful time. Kathie and Vickie looked like they hiked up a long ways....yikes. I used to be able to do stuff like that!!!

I'll be going today over to Yolanda's. Can't wait to get to be with everyone. I am going to bring my daughter too. It's her birthday so I'm sure we will have to celebrate.

I saw this eagle on the way home from shopping today. It's one of the nicest ones I've seen. It is in front of an antique shop which was closed. I wonder how much it costs?!

Okay Peeps, we're almost ready to leave for Oxnard...no time to comment on all the great pics and things but here's what we were doing in the mean time...

All I want to know is...." why do I have to get in to the kitchen sink every time you are going to a Cruzer happening " ?

Avalon is the perfect place for a GeoCaching Adventure, almost like a modern day scavenger hunt. When my grandchildren were much younger and we were all able to vacation together in Avalon, I'd do up a scavenger hunt for them. I usually had about 8 locations, each written in a four line rhyme and scotchtaped to the business location... all were on Crescent Ave (actually, one was out at the end of Green Pier at Rosie's) The deal was, everyone showed up in jammies at a central location about 7AM (before many people were out) and they got the first note...on they went around town locating the other notes...the last one was at Joe's for breakfast with grandma and tickets to minature golfing. They were familiar with all locations and the day before, I had talked with the business owners to ask their permission to put a note outside. Rosie was so excited about it she said she wished she could join in.

What fun, CHIQUITA! Made for great memories for all concerned, I bet! It jogged my memory banks - I hadn't thought about 'kidnap breakfasts' for years but remember the fun in High School to plot behind the back of a friend to kidnap/capture on the morning of her birthday (had to inlist a willing and devious - to keep the 'secret' - Mom's help!) to 'break in' before the alarm was to go off and take her 'as is' to breakfast in a public place... in those days, we often wore 'rollers' to bed. rofl
