Good Morning I stayed awake until it went dark at PH and looks like we're still egg-specting a hatching on our favorite nest. k10 sure was restless sooo maybe our first glimpse in the nest bowl today will reward us with twins! Penny, thanks for staying up so late and posting pictures from Yolanda's late last night so early peeps like me can see them before getting ready for work. It looked like a beautiful day in Oxnard and what fabulous pictures you have of all the cruzers attending. Even the beanies look like they are having fun! Nice pictures of the sunset at the end of the day.

Great pictures, Penny. Looks like great fun was had by all. Sorry to have missed it. Couldn't sleep tonight so finally got up and was shocked to see that it was almost 3 am. Not sure what the problem is but decided to get up and see if by doing something I'd get tired. Think I'll read a bit.

Blackwater Wildlife Refuge has posted three new eaglet videos from March in their eagle cam web log. http://friendsofblackwater.org/wordpress/eagle09/ I just heard thunder and the rain is already falling. It was so nice and sunny here yesterday, but we're in for a rainy day today. Have a great Monday everyone. I'll be thinking of K10 and K26 at work today but I won't know if the egg hatched until this afernoon. Thanks to all who post captures and video!

Eaglepedia Revisited February 28, 2007 The parents are always in attendance - feeding the chicks, sheltering them from the heat/cold/rain, watching for danger such as wind/rain/nest-robbing predators. The female does most of the watching during the first several weeks while the male does most of the food gathering making 4 to 8 trips a day, mostly in the early morning or mid to late afternoon. Leaving a nearby perch, the eagle will return shortly with food for the chicks, landing on the nest to feed them himself or transferring the catch to the parent tending the young who then feeds the young eaglets. The quick growing eaglets will fight among themselves, begging, whining, crying - even screaming at their parent for food. There are no table manners in the nest! Both parents will feed the squabbling young, passing food back and forth between them. The parent will stand on the food with their talons, using their beak to tear off pieces to feed to the eaglets, bill to bill. The lunch will be at 2:00 p.m. so they can catch the Catalina boat at 5:45 p.m. I know, it's a week day and many of us work....this is just the best time for seeing the two of them. Please let me know if you can make it. marjori365@aol.com Hope to see you there. |
