Hi Penny, it was so good to see you and your family last night! Thanks for the little 'eagle' project. Good to know you made it home safe and sound. If I'm up for it, I'll post my pics too. I'm in a real funk after today's events. :'(

I know what you mean Vicki :boohoo:

I have to keep reminding myself that it was not the fault of the parents because they did try to feed the eaglet many times...if it cannot pick up its head and open its beak it will not get fed though :'( :'( :'(

Obviously this eaglet was not completely normal and in nature only the strongest survive...and that is a good thing for the gene pool.

Keeping my :X: for a viable eaglet in the other egg.

Ive been lurking off and on all day but have had only one item of good news happen to me. The orthopedic surgeon said i am healed and dont have to return to see him :)^ However that is the only thing which has salvaged a rotten day here for me.

I have spent hours on the phone trying to get the proper person to contact regarding the termination of my aol account and have been stonewalled to the hilt. Even calling the main number in Va for this rotten company has them transferring me back to the same toll free numbers who tell me theyre not the right person and to write a letter to some hidden department without the name of a person in that department to address it to.

The company operator despite my informing her that wasnt who i wanted kept transferring me there or hanging up on me which really annoyed me even when asking to speak to her supervisor i was transferred to the same number i was repeatedly not asking for. It really irritates me that when one has a complaint there is no named person to contact. Call me old fashioned , but if i write to anyone i want to know who i am actually writing to. That way one has the ability to document who has been contacted should further actions be needed.

Sorry for venting but i am really PO'ed.

I am going to crash out on my slab and dream up some evil things i want done to AOL :dvl: :dvl: :dvl:

I am running ragged all week with various medical problems with various speicalists here and this wasnt what i needed from those #$%#@$#@. Sorry to vent again but the loss of our eaglet has really made today one of the rottenest string of bad news ive had in ages and i am not handling this well .

George, maybe a little tope of Johnny Walker would be in order to celebrate your good news from the Orthopedic surgeon and I've heard via the grapevine that it can actually help make one feel more mellow :D...better than a "chill" pill even

I haven't checked in here all day today - too dispirited about the PH loss to want to chat. George, I know just how you feel - let's hope the rest of the week is better, hmmm?

I had such a marvelous weekend I thought I'd be flying on that all week, but today's loss and the ensuing unpleasantness has just wiped me out.

I will go check out the photos from Yolanda's later if I can drag myself up to the computer at home. I haven't even looked at the ones I took myself yet!

Here's to a better day tomorrow.... :X:

George, that first paragraph of yours really does contain a huge amount of good news, actually outstanding news. Your body has healed well from the surgery. That's terrific.

I have a question. If by chance something happens to the 2nd PH chick (God forbid!), is it still early enough in the season for 26 to lay more eggs??

Such a sad day for the PH parents today. I can't even bear to finish reading NO. Hoping for a new chick tomorrow.

I doubt they would lay again this season. The Santa Cruz Island project is a feasibility study for the reintroduction of bald eagles on those islands, so there are no plans to manipulate the nests in any way, either taking eggs or fostering chicks.
