Jill - rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl I will never be able to sing the Hallelujah Chorus again without thinking of this. I've got to send it to the rest of the choir. We will all be laughing tonight at rehearsal.

ROTFLMAO!

Am gonna have to send this to the evil spinster sister. While atending College in Mass she was the concert mistress. Up there there is a group who meets at some church around Boston to play the Messiah by sight reading the score. I was told anyone who has an instrument can join in. No matter whether they can or can not play.

Karen, the pictures you took of all the beautiful flowers at Carlsbad Flower Fields yesterday are truly “A-mazing “.  How many acres of flowers do they own?  I really enjoyed watching the slideshow.

Ditto from me Karen. That was an outstanding slideshow. Thanks for taking the time to upload all those pics and posting it. I'm sure all those people who still have cold weather really appreciated it too :)^ :)^ :)^

Here's the link again for anyone who missed it:

Here is a story and interview with David Hancock about the new Saanich eaglet:

Eagle Hatching On Saanich - CBC

Since "Hope" seems to be a popular name for our new PH eaglet, does anyone know what the Chumash word for hope is?

Whooper Update:Juvenile #826, part of the St. Marks' group of seven, was found badly injured by a landowner NE of Bloomington, Illinois. His leg is fractured in 10 places, cause unknown, but it was a "large force impact". He will be operated on today. Likely he will not be able to return to the wild, if he survives at all.  :X:  So he could use some positive healing thoughts today.

According to the landowner the remaining five juveniles in #826's group waited three days for him before moving on. The seventh juvenile, #813, the only one with a PTT transmitter, had separated from the group earlier in the migration and is presently in Iowa.

Operation Migration Field Journal Report

Cheryl, I'm :'( :'( :'( here.

What a sad outcome for that crane chick. Do you think they will ever know what could have happened to it? How does a leg get broken in 10 places  I wonder how they can possibly 'repair' it. Poor crane baby. :X: he makes it through the surgery :(

Whooper Update: Sad news about whooper juvenile # 826. He passed away last night (the message just came through now).

"Below is part of an email message we received today from Dr. Julia Whittington, who is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Zoological Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Wildlife Medical Clinic in Urbana, IL.
I wanted to let you know that subsequent to its recovery from anesthesia earlier today for a nuclear scintigraphy evaluation of the foot to assess vascular integrity, Whooping crane 826 died. I suspect [given the extent and severity of its injuries] this may very well be the optimal outcome, but I appreciate you allowing us to manage this case." (from OM website)

:candle: :^^^: Fly on angel's wings, little whooper. You will be missed.
