Vicki - Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery and make sure that you don't do any cl%*&@#g. :Hugs:

Vicki, maybe I should go with you to protect Dr. Mc Dreamy??????

I promise none of that c*e@*ing stuff for me! Dr. McDreamy, well, I couldn't look into his dreamy eyes, since he was doing nasty stuff to my arm and shoulder. ewwww. He's a lucky man he's married or else! I'm doing fine, the numbing stuff is wearing off, I had 7 shots of it, a few times into the procedure. Notice, I can still type and post. rofl

MARTI.... I had a similar experience but with a Brown Towhee - since I, at the time, was raising Peach Face LoveBirds and had a budgie or two, I had all the 'necessaries' at my house and promptly put this tail-less bird in one of the extra cages... the next day I took it to a local vet who helped with injured wildlife and was, fortunately, very knowledgeable about avian care. I was informed that I should have NEVER put it in a cage as when it 'fluttered', it sorta shredded the tips of the wing/flight feathers. The poor thing was unable to fly minus a tail as it now had no 'rudder' (Vet's word) or, if it did, it would be easy prey. He proceeded to remove the flight feathers that were 'mushed' on the tips telling me I would have to take care of the bird until both flight and tail feathers grew in... fine with me but it had to live in a cardboard box with smooth sides and I put a window screen over the top (weighted down). He became very tame - sat with us at breakfast and feasted on bits of buttery English Muffins and bagels in addition to his 'diet' of seeds supplemented with jar baby food - eggs and some meat, as I recall. He got SOOO 'round' that I named him Orson. He thrived and his feathers grew in finally BUT grew in WHITE as he wasn't having 'normal' exposure to sunlight. When releasable, I took him to Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary (a 12 acre preserve) in Modjeska Canyon and let him loose.... he hung around for a bit, then scratched in the dirt, pecked at leaves and seeds, explored the immediate surroundings, short-hopped away and back and then flew out of sight. I made a donation (I called ahead for permission, BTW, before doing this) and left Orson behind. I called back several times to check on him always getting a report of a 'sighting' - since he had such unusual coloring, puzzled birdersf with open Field Guides in hand, would come into the little Nature Center and inquire of this odd little bird who they described as 'very social', looking much like a Towhee and hanging with others, but with the white tail feathers and wing-tips!

Marti, so good of you to stop and rescue the dove. Hope he heals and you are able to release him.

Joanie, I can just see those birders with their field guides! :) Sounds like the towhee brought you lots of joy while he was at your house.

Well, I am going to call it a night. Tomorrow is going to be a long day for me as I shall be attending the last regular season hockey game in the soon to be demolished Spectrum here in Philly. Current AHL team has been sold and i am not sure where the Phantoms are to play next year.

NYTOL! :}^ :Zz: :Zz:
