The funeral of the four Oakland officers- http://opoa.org/assets/photo%20albums/Fune...0499957099.html I couldn't look at them all as it is a painful reminder of my husband's son killed in the line of duty as a deputy sheriff. Tears are rolling down my face. Such a tragic loss of lives.

Jillers...The lone man saluting as he stands on the sidewalk holding the American Flag while the motorcycle officers pass.....DH and I attended many of these funerals...it was hard for him...many tears...he says he doesn't think he could handle another one. Chiquita |

They own 50 acres of flowers. There is also a studio that will take you into the flowers for portraits. What great pics those would be for a gift for Mother's Day, Easter, or whenever! I have lived less than 10 miles from there for 52 yrs. and that was my 1st trip to the fields. You can see them from Interstate 5 so have seen them in bloom but have never actually gone there to see them up close and do all the stuff they have there. It was a total blast and the kids were great Something I learned was that ranunculus have no smell and no pollen so they do not attract bees at all. Wow! |

Joanne, I am not familiar with a brown towhee. What is it? That is a wonderful story. He was one of the family. I know it was hard to let him go. Good of you to release him. My last rehab was in CA. Another dove. Damaged wing. Could fly some. I took him up to the hill at Palos Verdes Botanical Gardens, I think about five miles around, with a little lake. Very beautiful and spacious. All kinds of plants, trees and flowers. They had several shows during the year where you could buy plants at great prices. Anyway, I released that dove down by the lake with lots of greenery and dense shrubbery. That was such a peaceful place to go. Oh, my bad.... I had my little airy tote bag with me with the new resident. No, I did not ask ahead of time. I figured one little dove would not harm their gardens. I went down by the lake and sat on a bench. I sat him down on the ground where he walked around surveying his new digs. I finally slipped away when I saw he was doing okay. |
