Just a thought - I think we should name the PH chicks - we did get to observe them no matter the outcome and we were always hoping for their success...... I like the nicknames given to them by Cruzer nest observers: Windy and Hope IMHO....

I agree, Deb. And I believe Windy and Hope would be excellent names for them.

I agree: Windy and Hope are good names. Even though they didn't live very long they tugged at our heartstrings.

Happy Birthday to Paula and Kaleefa! Topa Topa Hikers, the lens is a Canon 400mm F5.6 with a 1.4 extender. Nice pictures of the Seal Sanctuary. Peetie, hope your feeling better soon! Deb, It took us five and one half hours to drive to NBG but it is well worth the drive. It's a two for one deal. Awesome eagle viewing in a beautiful garden setting! It is only a five minute walk from the garden entrance to the nest area. You can actually see the nest from the edge of the parking lot. :soar: :soar: |

I'm not one to name chicks, but....was thinking about this earlier in the day. If a human child is born and the infant doesn't survive, he or she is given a name and it remains in the memory. We love these tiny chicks that we can barely see....so I go with Windy and Hope too.

I agree with the names Windy and Hope, even though they are their "adoptive" names. It fits and it is good to be able to say goodbye to them as acknowledged eagle beings as to whom they really were...

Deb - I totally agree. Although Windy & Hope's lives were much too short, we will never forget them. Rest in Peace sweet little

Well just caught up on the nests and so sad for PH
But as Deb said these are very young eagles and they have many more years to produce healthy young. These birds and all creatures have such struggles to be brought into this world. It is a 50/50 chance for any of these nests. We need now to focus on the other little ones and that they fledge successfully and can live their 1st year without any encounters. I'm still so excited for Wray that she has had 3 successful hatchings now think about that! Can't wait for these twins to start doing their wingercises

I know we will never know but can't help but wonder how a chick that was eating this morning can be gone tonight?

Others had been using the names along the way and it would only seem fitting - I'd like to see Pat add them to the Over The Rainbow and the PH nest history! Again, maybe short time here but they brought so much to all of us and what we've learned along the way. NOTE: It has not yet been confirmed that the 2nd chick is lost at PH but there's been no feedings - peeping and no sightings. The parents have now been away from brooding so it would indicate that such is the case. We've not had an opinion from Dr. Sharpe yet. |
