The carrot cake roll sounds yummy, Marti. It is a really quiet day here - I actually went to work this morning to finish up a couple of returns and to get caught up with our E-files. The weather here is not nice at all today - very cool, overcast, windy, and damp. More like an early-February day instead of mid-April. Too bad for all of those who had planned on outdoor Easter activities today. I am going to be cooking some Easter turkey chili for us tonight. Keeping an eye on the nests, especially touched by the presence of beautiful K26 and K10 at their nest today.

Robin -Cream Cheese vs. Buttercream frosting on rolled carrot cake...The only way I know of is to make one of each and taste test.... Of course, you would probably need a few non-biased carrot cake taste testers and take a vote. Anyone available....?

Marti, I remember the jelly rolls we used to get at the store. I found a recipe and tried making one once. Not one of my better ideas.

Vicki & Penny - We have lots of cardinals, bluejays, doves and all kinds of little finches. This little red squirrel is always here as DH buys a 5 lb. bag of peanuts and spreads them on the patio. When the big grey and black squirrels come over, the little one chases them away, must have a Napoleon Complex.

Marti, I would volunteer for the taste test. I love carrot cake with cream cheese, but butter frosting would be good, too. Sounds like your rescued dove is doing better. Carole, cute backyard critters. We have a cardinal pair hanging around here. I'm not sure if they are the same birds, but last year we had them nest in our yard. I kept the nest last fall. Robin, the man must have excellent eyesight to be able to carve in such fine detail. DS's new girlfriend who came for Easter dinner is really nice. Whew. She even listened to me talking about the eagles without nodding off!

Carrot cake does sound good. With a little cold milk....just the ticket. That Model T card stamp should be worth a little penny or two To say I'm tired would be an understatement. I think some IP is in order. I went dumpster diving for boxes and happened to score a real find. I picked up a glass table and base and a picnic style table with glass top in the trash. Thank you who ever threw that away. I will make excellent use of it in my new back yard. A neighbor from the apt's next door went over and "rescued" it from the trash and moved it over to my new place. I love saying that!!! I am now back in my apt had to leave the hotel
but that's ok I'll be at the beach this time next week.

Oh boy - I was walking through the park next door again today, the same park where I took the pictures of the Coopers hawk a few days ago, and I noticed a large bird flying off a nest in one of the trees. I got my binoculars and came back, and it looks like the Coopers have a nest! I'm not absolutely positive, but there was a bird incubating in the nest although it was a bit hard to see from below, and it looked to have a grey cap on the head like the Coopers.
