ph death; nest different?

Dr. Sharpe,
I have noticed that the nest bowl has been so much deeper this year. Could this have made a difference in their ability to keep the correct temperature for the chicks?
Also, they seemed to be bending so far down to feed.

The nest bowl looked deep, but because of the lack of depth perception on the camera, I can't tell how wide it was. The adults seemed to sit down in it well, so I don't think temperature was the problem.
