Karen - After watching your NBG slideshow, I have to put it on my "I want to Visit List".  Your photos are beautiful and the venue is magnificent, flowers, eagles, critters and all. :clk:  :)^

Thanks Carole and others who have commented on the pictures. Here's a few more of NBG taken Easter morning. It was sunny, chilly and windy and only about 45 degrees in the moring. Even so, it was a beautiful morning to walk the garden. Not as much eagle action as the first day. Momma Norfolk was at the nest but Papa Norfolk was flying high above. We only caught a glimpse of him.
We left NBG at 12:00 noon and headed for Blackwater Wildlife Refuge where we saw lots of eagle action. :soar: :soar:

I still keep the PH nest on for my birds (and me!). I frequently hear a bird that "sounds" like an eagle call, but I believe is a mockingbird! When eagles are on the nest, they ignore it. Anyone?

Glad you enjoyed the pics of the condor - although not our national bird we almost lost this amazing bird as well - in 1982 there were only 22 left and in 1986 there were only 3 left - these were captured and the breeding program began - now there are 350 but still most are in zoos - there are 40 eggs, 9 of which are in the wild - the goal is 450 in 4 different locations - they are amazing to watch.

Karen - Beautiful Norfolk pics - what a beautiful area and to have bald eagles too - doesn't get any better.

Kareninsoca - Jossy is soooo very beautiful - looks so lovely in her Easter dress - guess leaves can be just as exciting as eggs to a little one - bet next year eggs will win out as being the item to find - thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sheila, for the info about the condor. Here's a short slideshow of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. In 1964 the Bridge-Tunnel was selected "One of the seven Engineering Wonders of the Modern World." We were surprised to find an Osprey nest with a chick on it right along the side of the road at the scenic viewing area. We only stopped for a few minutes and then continued on our way.

Marie, the 2nd chick on PH was lost between Friday night and Saturday morning. I would assume it died of the same cause the first one did, though no one knows what that is. You can look over Saturday's NO thread for all the details if you like.

Thanks Linda, I have been away and logged in this morning to find an empty nest. Sooo sad for 26 and 10.

Deb
, the eagle action we saw as we approached Blackwater Widlife Refuge yesterday was awesome. There was a fresh deer carcass in a field behind one of the local residents. At least a half a dozen or more eagles were in the area waiting to feed. We were driving along the road when I spotted a single eagle sitting in the field. We turned around to get a picture and one by one more eagles began circling the area. A few were juveniles. Vultures were in the area too and it appeared as though the eagles were keeping them at bay. We never expected to see so many eagles in one area outside of the refuge! Most of the eagles were not visible to us until they flew from the trees. After looking at our pictures we noticed that there were even more eagles there than we first realized. And all this before we entered the Refuge. :<<>>: :soar:
