Beautiful Mrs. Goose, such a treat to see them like that! Sara, what can I say, a fabulous tribute on the PH Cam for our sweet boy! I miss him all the time, he was such fun to watch, chasing dad away, and mom put up with his antics. Such a loss, I hope he's soaring with his siblings that were lost this week, and his other little brother Skye. Thank you Sara! |

We continued to spot eagles as we entered the Wildlife Refuge. We also spotted four osprey nest boxes with an osprey onboard each one. We even spotted two foxes in the wildlife refuge. We hope you have enjoyed the pictures of our travels and if you get a chance both Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and Norfolk Botanical Garden are nice places to visit and offer good opportunities to see eagles and osprey.![]() Click for slideshow. http://s658.photobucket.com/albums/uu304/G...mview=slideshow |

My Coopers indeed have a nest! This morning I went back with my camera and shot with the 400mm lens, which actually has more reach than my binoculars, and it's without doubt the Coopers 8) . It's going to be challenging taking shots of the nest itself, because the nest tree is towards the north west corner of the park, so to get good front lit shots you'd want to be standing south of it looking towards the north in mid morning. Unfortunately it is very difficult to find a clear shot from that side without other tree branches in the way. There is a relatively clear line of sight shooting from the north side, but at this time of year with the sun relatively low in the sky you're shooting pretty much into the sun. I was able to get some half decent side-lit shots from the west and east. Adult incubating: ![]() Tight crop on the adult - I am starting to play around a bit with postprocessing now, so I took a shot at sharpening and just brightening it up a touch with a levels adjustment (I am really just experimenting blind though so suggestions/critiques on the postprocessing welcome): ![]() Another tight crop on the adult - again sharpened a bit and brightened up slightly - again I find if I brighten more than this with the side lighting the sunlit side tends to get washed out: ![]() The area with the nest tree - this is more or less from the east side facing west with the sun at about 10 o clock: ![]() |

Happy Birthday Limuw! May you soar forever in our hearts. I took a couple of impromptu photos this morning of the little dove. ---------------------- ![]() He decided he likes to perch on my finger. Evidently feels very secure. I fed him a couple of times and gave water. Decided to sit down to computer. Dove on finger - can't type or download files(?) Move dove to shoulder. He was happy. Put more drops in his eye. The bad eye looks like it has something black and flat stuck on eye. Shortly thereafter, I thought one of the birds had "dumped" on me. And there was this flat black object. The eye is clear, but discolored inside. But now, he can close that eye! While dove was perched on me, Mikko, my cockatiel, decided to fly over and say "Hello". First closeup meeting. I guess he was too quiet. Mikko flew back to her cage.----------------------
