Thanks for the feedback on panda rearing Robin. I think it's a rule of nature that 'mother knows best'.

Thanks for the feedback on panda rearing Robin. I think it's a rule of nature that 'mother knows best'.

With the possible exception of human mothers. Some of them are completely psycho!!!

That was really interesting, Robin, but a bit frightening - I didn't know the Chinese were using dogs to teach the pandas to fight! :8O: But you are our resident panda expert, aren't you?

It's really great to have so many people here who are interested in so many different things. I learn so much reading all your posts...

....They still have a problem with releasing the pandas into the wild.  They don't know how to fight and defend territory.  And . . . the one panda that they have released to the wild, poor Xiang Xiang, was released into another panda's territory . . . not a happy ending.  So, the dilemma now is . . . how do they teach the pandas how to fight?  I'm not really crazy about their solution to that problem.  The plan is to use German Shepherds.  I don't know who to be more scared for -- the pandas or the German Shepherds.  :X:

" The best laid schemes of mice and men gang oft aglay " :8O:

I can't believe this is what the solution is...bear baiting  That is really unconscionable
Robin
if they actually go ahead and do it :o

Robin that scares me a Panda fighting with a German Sherhard. WOW. That is very frightening. Wouldn't the Panda win in that fight unless it's really little. Nice that we were able to teach China something about Panda's :D .

I'm not sure if they are going to move forward with the German Shepherd plan. I think there was a huge backlash in the humane community. We'll see how it plays out.

I wish I knew some Penny. I hope someone knows. We'll be out of town Fri.-Sun. at our church retreat in Mailibu. I'm sorry we'll miss you all, if you were going to be able to visit while you were here! If you remind me tomorrow I can make a few calls to hotels that are customers of ours at work.

Okay, I think we finally found something in our price range where they accept small dogs...and it has a fridge for the Cruzer Pot Luck contribution on Sat. :D

Yup, just got the confirmation :**: :><: :**:

Edit: Thanks Sara
and Jill. Didn't see your responses until we had booked a place.
