Get better real soon, Deb!

I had some precancerous spots frozen off this afternoon. One on my upper lip (OUCH!!) and one of my right arm. They say the stuff doesn't hurt that its just cold but they lie! IT HURTS!!! It's liquid nitrogen! And don't they know that if you hold a snowball against your bare skin long enough it will HURT?? Well, liquid nitro is even colder than a snowball. I have another spot on the left side of my face that has been frozen off so many times and biopsied twice and it keeps coming back and now is bigger and getting closer to the corner of my eye so am being sent to a dermatologist to have it excised. Have to wait for authorization from the insurance co. tho. Not looking forward to that but I am tired of messing around with it as its been there since I was in my early 20's. Let's just get it off there already!

Lala...so sorry to hear about your niece's DH's sister and kids! How awful to lose so many family members in one shot like that. I will keep them all in my prayers.

Thanks to all who posted pics today. They are all wonderful! Am keeping my kiddos at school up to date on Xi Lan and all the eagles. They are becoming quite knowledgeable :D Who knows...maybe one will turn out to be another Dr. Sharpe or Steffani :) That would be great and I would hope they would come back and tell me!

Well, headed off for a little tv before beddy bye so see all y'all tmrw! Sweet eagle, panda, hawk and other critter dreams! Speaking of which, I had a dream last night that I had several black widow spiders on me :o Creepy!

Penny, couldn't you disguise Shiobhan as a working dog?   rofl
I learned this past weekend that that is a chargeable offense -- passing off a non-working dog as a working dog.

DARN...there goes that idea....but seriously...who would even believe that a 5 pound Yorkie is a service dog in disguise? rofl rofl rofl

Hearing Aid Dog. But they could ask for certification. They really do have them.

<::: More on the Sandy Ridge Eagles

I am going to try to address some of the confusion here.

We do believe the eagles had at least one eaglet in the nest by the feeding behavior we observed prior to her injury. There was no way at the early stages we were in to tell how many eaglets there were. We do know that the male stopped tending to the nest on Sunday afternoon so at that point we have to assume that whatever eaglet(s) there were in the nest are no longer alive.

I don't know why the reporter on the TV said three eaglets. Sometimes they just get the facts wrong. There were a lot of people there all telling the reporters different things and I just think the facts got somewhat jumbled.

I also believe the people who work at the park are concerned about the eagles, but they are also willing to accept that sometimes nature isn't always kind and that we have to deal with this reality. If it turns out that the female eagle can be rehabilitated, that would be great, but it just might not work out that way.

I also want to point out that Division of Wildlife allowed us to take extraordinary measures today in attempting to capture the female eagle. We all knew that it was a long shot that we could get her, but at least the effort was put out. The Lorain County Metroparks and Sandy Ridge personnel were there too and everyone was supportive to this effort.

As of right now, the eagle is somewhere around Sandy Ridge. We will all hope that she is ok. I am hoping by some miracle she either recovers on her own or she gets to the point that we can get to her and provide the care she needs. I really appreciate all the kind words of encouragement from everyone on this forum.
The male eagle is also still coming and going from his usual spots in the park and in the development so he is ok too!

Lala - So sorry to hear about the loss of Tom's sister and nephew - prayers for both of your families - so very, very sad.

Thanks for the pic of the dog on Mission St. - when the new owners bought the house, they agreed to cont. Annette's tradition of dressing the dog for holidays - they have been doing a wonderful job.

Jann - Enjoyed the pic of the Cruzer party and Wild Animal Park - the "blue bird" is a Blue Crowned Pigeon - we have them at the SB Zoo in the Wings of Asia exhibit - they are the most beautiful pigeon I have ever seen - we also have the Bleeding Heart Pigeon.

Poor Xi Lan - did you see him rubbing his little head after Momster Mom pulled him down - I think he felt that drop.

Carole - Thanks for sharing the video with Susan Boyle - what a beautiful voice - surprised them all didn't she.

Love all the pic everyone is sharing - keep on sharing.

Anybody know of any good pet friendly accommodations in Santa Barbara?

We're trying for Friday and Sat night and it is turning into a BIG problem
:(

Penny
I don't know of anything in SB, but if worse comes to worse, you know your precious is always welcome to stay with me(I'm in the valley). I know she doesn't like to be away from you, but keep that in mind as a back up. But i'm sure there's got to be somewhere in SB that's pet friendly.

It's ok Dory. we found a place :D

Thanks for the offer though Siobhan would have a supreme meltdown if I ever left her with a 'stranger' even for a short time.

Penny - Even without the movie people being in town, SB is almost always full of visitors from out of town on the weekend.

Lala - the condors were released to their new habitat on Tues. 4-7-09 - the grand opening is to be held on Sat. 4-25-09 - good time to go is before the 25th - will be lots of people there then - the Channel Island foxes are located next to the condors - and the bald eagles will be in their previous habitat - there is lots of scaffolding in there right now - fixing it up better for the eagles - know they need to be done by the 25th - don't know if it will be finished by this weekend or not. The barn where there is feed for the new Churro lambs and parents and the pigs is also the new "Green Store". The other new building on the hilltop will be a new restaurant and bath rooms - not yet open. Just learned one of the black necked swans died 3 weeks ago - the one that is left is crying out alot and looks very lonely. The new Titi baby monkey is very cute and getting easier to see. Hannah is the new Snow Leopard who will hopefully mate with Beau. The flamingoes are building their dirt mounds for laying eggs soon. There is also a new placque in tribute to Gemini - haven't seen it yet myself. Unfortunately Elliott, the youngest white-handed gibbon went to a new zoo to meet some young females - not sure what will happen to Riley, his brother. The lories and lorikeets have also moved to a zoo in FL - I really miss them.
There is always something new and exciting happening at the zoo.

Lala - When is the best time to go to Lake Cachuma to see the wildlife, esp. the bald eagles?

Jill may know more about Annette and her house - I was priviledged to visit the house once before she moved away - she does or did beautiful sculpture which was displayed thru out the house - so happy the new family is willing to keep up the tradition of dressing the dog for holiday occasions.

Sheila, thanks for the name of the "blue bird". They are so beautiful, aren't they? Don't remember seeing them at the park before.

Just heard on the news that this weekend is Earth Day in SB - that will bring lots of tourists as well, esp. since the weekend is supposed to be beautiful - lots of more wind for tomorrow though. Of course, last weekend was Easter and lots of people were coming in for the weekend - by 11 am on Sat. traffic on 101 was starting to crawl coming into SB.

Jann - saw you were able to update your pic of the Blue Crowned Pigeon - they are beautiful indeed.

Lala - forgot about the two pelicans in with the Inca Terns habitat next to the Humboldt Penquins and across from the Titi monkeys - they are both rescue birds and will remain at the SB Zoo.
