I was wondering, when you were removing the eggs and hatching them offsite then returning them, did you ever put more chicks in a nest then there had been eggs? For example, you remove one egg from a nest and foster in two chicks. If so, how did the parents react? |

I'm pretty sure we did, but we always left two eggs because they have a tendency to bury them accidentally. The adults are fine with adding more chicks than they had, or going back a week later and adding a second chick. If there is a chick in its nest, it must be theirs. |
