Howdy peeps.
For anyone interested, there is still some room left for the owl banding field trips on Sunday at Starr Ranch in south Orange County.
I'm taking a half day off from life to go relax and have a great time out in the wilderness I didn't know was there :P
I went to a banding in March and it was amazing.

Trish, if I were in the area I would love to go and participate, especially since viewing your previous video of the March banding. Have a great time!

From the Vancouver Province newspaper April 15, 2009

Man receives 12 days

A Brentwood Bay man has been sentenced to 12 days in jail, fined $650 and ordered to do 60 hours of community service for illegally selling bald eagle parts. James Murray Sampson, 54, was convicted in Victoria Provincial Court on four counts of trafficking in bald eagle parts, contrary to the Wildlife Act.

This is several years after the fact....the wheels of justice grind slowly

What a travesty. At this rate, why should the people who do this even worry about being caught.

Yes, Topa, I'd like to add my thanks too.

Carole, I look forward each day to see what your signature will be. Love the hummingbird and the bird feeder border. Very Spring like. I can't wait for the hummingbirds to be back in our area. Very nice.

TODAY'S PANDA UPDATE

Friday, April 17
This past Tuesday, Xi Lan took a big step forward by spending the whole day outside. We had hoped for a repeat of that today, but his favorite place for an afternoon nap is still on the top of the structure in the air-conditioned dayroom. Not even his arch-nemesis, the springy bush that I mentioned in my last update, kept his attention for very long. Mei Lan, on the other hand, basked in the sunshine (and adoration of Zoo Atlanta visitors) today rather than retreating to the shade or air-conditioning. I was tempted to tell Xi Lan the classic, guilt-trip quote my mother always used on me: “It’s a beautiful day outside. Why are you wasting it by staying inside?” But Xi Lan just yawned at me, sticking that out little pink tongue. Even his acts of defiance are cute!
