Katers, they look pretty healthy to me. There are pictures there with parents feeding them and they seem to be moving all over the nest???

Price is Right is coming on in a few minutes. If you are watching....Wendy and I are in the center section in the last row you should see us. Wendy has on a red shirt and I have on a blue shirt.

Peeps I am in big trouble!!! I had to crawl to the bathroom last night. What goofy stuff. I forget my ankle is do bad until I do something like this. I put on a pain patch but OMG!! I'm in bed waiting for Price is Right with ice on the poor ankle and back. Some how I have to get to the new place today I am getting a new water heater. Got to be there.

Whooper Update: Whoop, whoop! Several of the juveniles from the Class of 2008 have made it back to their home territory in Wisconsin! The first group that left Chassahowitzka on March 24th arrived yesterday. They are # 804, 814, 818. #819 split from the group in Alabama and his location is currently unknown.

Five of the juveniles from the St. Marks' cohort, #805, 812, 828, 829 and 830, who left on March 30th, arrived at Necedah late yesterday. #813 had split from the group earlier and is now in eastern Wisconsin. #826 is the one who died from his injuries not long ago, likely from colliding with a power line.

I am glad that they have made it back on their own, but it is mixed with sadness at the loss of #826 and concern about the rest.

I hate to say it but those chicks on Xcel energy site have the same image with different time stamps for hours, and if you look at the images from the 6 o'clock hour, you see the picture getting light with the sunrise.
I'm unfortunately certain they have perished.

Here is an excellent photo spread of some of the adult whooping cranes during their migration. They stopped at the Goose Pond Wildlife area in Indiana in March, much to the thrill of local birders.
