Good morning, Cruzers! Well, even though I won't be at the picnic I'll be enjoying it vicariously. Have a super time to all those who are attending! George, hope you and your friend are able to go eagle watching another time. I am looking forward to seeing your pictures. Carole, thanks for Eagleland and the little memorial for the Colorado chicks. Petra, that is an excellent plan to gradually increase your medication as your body gets used to it. Hope it all works out so you can feel better. The Paul Revere poem just gets the heart pumping every time I read it. Marti, what a terrific wood carver. How is your dove doing? Michele, the eagle poem that you posted is lovely. :soar: |

Lau and Marti, there are certain things that we are not allowed to post on this board (or talk about) but we are trying to have people look over there every day to see them. We are actually spending hours (like for me it was three full days for something I posted last Thursday) on these postings. It has to do with the mass email that we all received. Deb might be able to explain it more clearly but that's all I can say on here. Sorry to be so mysterious but ..... hope this helps. |

I noticed a blank spot where the Colorado nest was supposed to be. Is it due to the snow or did we lose those 3 little chicks? (We got over a foot of snow at my house yesterday...and it's still snowing. My garden will love all the moisture, but my back won't love the shoveling.) |

This forum (CHIL forum) is hosted by VCOE as a result of the Montrose Settlement and thru the effort of a partnership which includes IWS - all who support and work with the PH nest. As a result of the excitement and outpouring of the forum/camera followers - people began to do fundraising for the Bald Eagle Restoration Project which is administered by IWS and it was determined that since that Project is not really a part of the Partnership work for the PH cam, etc., it would be appropriate if IWS establish a forum (kind of like sister forums). Also there are many guidelines and restrictions that the CHIL Forum is mandated to operate by so...... IWS set of the IWS Eagle Forum to help with those. So the end result has been that: Nest Observations of all the eagle nests (PH, TH, WE, etc) are done on CHIL IWS Updates are posted on both forums Chat - main chat is on CHIL but a smaller version lives on IWS Forum Capture/Video Archives - maintained on CHIL Forum Questions for Dr. Sharpe - main one on CHIL but a similar seciton on IWS Forum ALL FUNDRAISING FOR IWS and the Eagle Project is done ONLY on IWS Forum and that's also where all kinds of information of the options to do that is hosted! Hope that helps - if you have any questions as to the two forums - drop me an EM! On the CHIL Index Page you can find a note - take a moment to read ... http://z7.invisionfree.com/CHIL_EagleCAM/i...2974&st=0&#last |

As Cheryl said, the IWS Eagle Forum is the "Sister Site" to this forum, for advertising and discussing things that are not allowed on this forum....i.e. fundraising, etc. Please note: You do not have to be a member to read anything on the IWS Eagle forum, but if you wish to post on it, you will have to register there. Registration on this forum does not mean you are registered on the IWS Forum. GMTA, eh, Deb?

Thanks Deb, Clear as Mud rofl, went back and reread the chat over there for most of the past two weeks and not seeing what CDN was talking about. Heres what I get (I think) * This site was originally made for PH nest * It got bigger as more people and nests became available * The "rules" for here don't allow mentioning fund raising for nests other than PH * To help other nests fundraise sister site was made, but most people use this site for day to day Not sure what e mail CDN was referring to hmmmmm |

Yes Lau - that's pretty much the highlights! AND Forum memberships are free - it's also (like Jann said above) the only way you can post - visitors cannot post ...... only view! I viewed for a long time before I finally signed up/joined and then it was still a while before I posted - and then look what happened! ![]() emails: the CHIL administrator/partners/moderators - have from time to time sent emails to forum members explaining about the CHIL restrictions (I posted a link to one notice that is posted on CHIL for the membership's use) due to the government funding/settlement and just recently they sent a "hatching" notice which updated CHIL members about all the chicks/nest activity and a notice that the 2009 Nest Adoption Challenge has started (IWS Eagle Forum) but reminding folks - all fundraising has to be at IWS Forum! So take time to visit both forums - they are "sister sites" as mentioned above! hint: if you register at IWS - it's suggested that you use your same ID that you use at CHIL so we won't all be confused - and I'm easily confused

Lauren, fundraising is not allowed at all on this forum....for any nest. The PH nest started it all....and grew faster and bigger than anyone originally imagined. When Cruz fledged, this forum nearly came to an end. An outcry from the members of this forum convinced them to leave it open and the members began to become more than just members....we became friends and began having group functions. And the rest is history. The uniqueness of this forum has been written up in the LA Times on a couple occasions. |

Don't reach through the computer and hit me.... but here's another interesting site to go to!! National Geographic is hosting THE GREAT TURTLE RACE!!!!!!. 11 leatherback turtles make their yearly journey from their jellyfish (yum!!) feeding grounds in the Atlantic Ocean off of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, to their home in the Caribbean. They all have transmitters on them so scientists can track their journey, water temperature, depths, etc. National Geographic has condensed those journeys to a 2 week internet 'race'. The site is delightful, especially for children. Each turtle is 'coached' by a member of the US Olympic swim team and sponsored by different organizations, including some rock bands (R.E.M., Pearl Jam). Click on the blue text further down the page, especially the interactive race map. |
