Good morning :) Yep, still morning here for about 20 more mins  Trish...great pic of your mom. She is looking well :) Love the kitties, too. Give them a scritch under the chin for me or wherever they like it best  Very excited about tmrw :**:

Well, its a gorgeous day here in So Cali today! Heard its not going to last tho. :( I am so tired of being cold. I can only imagine that you people with snow must be doubly tired of it by now.

Linds and her BF (David) and Jossy went up to Convict Lake yesterday for the wknd. David surprised her with the trip :) She txted me yesterday and said there is a little snow around her cabin and that Jossy was throwing it at them rofl This is Jossy's 1st experience with snow so I hope she gets lots of pics! Said it was so beautiful up there and she is very excited to be there. Can't wait til they get back to share her pics and all they did.

Well, off to fold some laundry and get more going. *sigh*

Trish....Part deux........ rofl rofl Your kitties are pretty danged cute too. I think I've told you before, I have a black kitty too......Lexi. She's my little sweetheart. Every morning she wakes me up by giving me a facial (she loves the cream I use on my face......Egads, I hope I'm not poisoning her!!).

This morning I got up bright and early to post my poem for NAC, and that got the cats going. Now, I am never one to just bound outta bed in the morning, so I typically hit the "Snooze" button at least twice. Omigawd, the kitties were going nuts...........you know, it's ALL about them. They were into the "feed me, feed me" mode and were not going to give me a moments rest (I go through this every single morning........Shessh).

So I got up, fed them, fired up the computer and posted, then went back to bed. They sat around for about a nano second scratching their heads in confusion before they finally followed me back to bed. A couple of hours later when I got up in earnest, they flipped back into their "feed me, feed me" mode. How quickly their stomachs forget............

The 2 caregivers AM/PM that care for my mom 5 days a week, and all the staff there really, are just wonderful. Mom loves them both very much. I'm pretty sure they care for her very much in return.
I was really lucky how things worked out with the place she is.

Time to go back for lunch at 12:30

If your mom is happy and you are satisfied then that's all that matters. I worry about that for the future of my mom ... and espcially being so far away from where she is!

Trish - Great pictures of your mom and garden helpers!

Tallycat - The turtles sound like a lot of fun. I am definitely going to check that out.

Laurie - Thanks for the Colorado update. Very sad. :'(

The snow has not stopped. I just dropped DH off at the airport, and it's raining in the metro area, but I think there were 3" more by the time I left and then came back. Argh! (Wish I was potlucking it at Casitas instead of shoveling! Just knocked the trees around because the snow is so heavy...looks like we lost the top of one of our pines. Bummer.)

Deb - I'm sure it's a fun project. A fresh coat of paint is always lovely. I'll see you when you get here with the blower, but only after you're done with the bathroom (it will all probably melt by the time you get here!).

Here's a quick little photo progression of the snow on the birdbath. 1st photo after I got home from work last night around 7 p.m. The next photos are at 8 a.m. and then at 2 p.m. (Poor tree top! I've got to research how to prune that with the hope that it will sprout another terminal bud. If anyone has tips, let me know.)

Dove Update! Until yesterday morning, I had to feed soft baby food thinned with milk. I would put little container up so his beak went in half way, and he would swallow. Yesterday morning surprised me to no end. I put the container under his beak, and he jumped in taking about six or eight swallows before taking his beak out. Then I would wait a minute and repeat. This went on at least six times. :)^

I have a low perch in the cage with water on one end and seed on the other. Yesterday was the first time he took water from that water cup. (I usually had to use a small plastic cup and place at his beak for him to drink.) Break through!

Then, I saw him at the other side where the seed is. He was moving his beak along the outside of the cup as though measuring it. Then he moved to the inside of the cup and was eating seeds for the first time. :><:

He must have some sight in one eye, because when he was on the bottom of the cage he was carefully checking things out. Then he would fly from one corner at the bottom - to the opposite corner at the top - and either land back where he started, or land on the perch. (and I thought doves were dumb :o )

I was surprised to look out a window to our deck a few minutes ago, and there on the railing was another ring necked dove!? Supposedly, they mate for life. I wonder if this was his mate? I decided he deserved some fresh air, so I placed his cage out on the table on the deck. Thought his mate might come back and "give him some moral support". :D

More later about this smart little bird!
