Oh, man, am I in trouble!!! I've been throwing up because of what I stupidly did! Never try to work when you are too tired! I was moving all my photos from my 6 flash drives into a file called California 2009. In that folder I had folders named for the day of the photos inside; 2009-04-04 thru 2009-04-13. I had them all in and had two folders (California 2009) minimized. I thought one was a Flash drive and deleted everything in it. Then I realized I just had 2 California 2009 opened and lost everything. Well, since I had not emptied the TRASH Bucket, I wasn't worried. I went there and restored everything in the TRASH. But it didn't seem to be very much there. When I went back to California 2009 I found I was missing the folders for the dates 2009-04-04 thru 2009-04-09!!!!! That's right ----- partys, whale watching and ALL of Catalina photos!!! At that time I recalled getting a message earlier that when I had removed a flash drive, I had not done it the 'SAFE' way and may have not have data saved. BUT -------- it was all there before I deleted the stuff in California 2009! So I have been doing a SEARCH for an hour now with nothing showing up. I remembered once before when I did the same thing with a flash drive and when I did a search, I found it had been saved twice but I cannot remember where it was. I know I'm blathering but I am so sick and upset! Anyone out there have any hope for me??? |

Thanks for the links to the piano playing kitty, Nora. She is such a cutie! Wonder if she'll ever play "Kitten on the Keys?" |

ER~There is a lot of info on what to do to recover stuff if you search. It appears you should be able to save your stuff, it will just take some study on how to do it, and a fresh mind. My best advice is to drop the keyboard and back slowly away from the computer. Get some good rest and give a go tomorrow when you are fresh. |

I hear ya! But the Info I just read said the the earlier you Recovery, the better, due to the fact that the computer reuses sections on the Hard Drive. I'll see what I find. Thanks so much! |

ER~That's only if you're using the computer. Otherwise it can't write over itself. It needs human intervention. Drop the mouse and step away from the computer. Tomorrow is your best bet. |

Trish, ok, I promise to do that if you can clarify one thing for me (I hope you're still here). Got what I need but don't understand their use of the word "volume" here. Does that mean it cannot be installed to the C drive? ":ATTENTION: Do NOT install iUndelete on the volume on which the deleted files reside! If there is only one volume, click cancel and install on a different PC and run iUndelete.exe from a removable drive such as a USB key." waiting patiently.................. and then bed................ promise................. |

I think volume means drive C, or maybe you have two - C and D. Which one were you working on? |

My Computer tells me I have C:\ drive and a D:\Recovery . When I opened the D: it gives this message: "Recovery Partition Warning! This area of your hard disk (or partition) contains files used for your system recovery. Do not delete or alter these files. Any change to this partition could prevent any recovery later." So it seems a volume may refer to a hard drive which is partioned. If that is the case, I may have to install this iUndelete program to a little flash drive!!! I have to find out if it will fit on one!! And the way things are going for me, I would probably lose it!!
