With the intense heatwave lately in California, I am wondering if the baby eaglets can survive with that heat baking the nest. There is no shelter, it seems, overhead, nothing to protect them. Is this a problem? Also, I never see liquids to drink. Don't the eaglets need to be hydrated in the hot weather?

The eagles do fine in the heat. They've been using these same nests for up to 17 years and there has never been a problem. Chicks can only get their fluids from their food, and maybe a little adult saliva. |
