How are you and the eagles faring with the smoke blowing over from Santa Barbara? If it gets worse, how will the eaglets react? They are stuck there!

I haven't smelled any smoke yet. We are at least 80 miles south of the fires.

Even if Dr. Sharpe didn't get a whiff on Catalina, I sure did and I am in L.A. proper. Two nights ago, when the winds were blowing like mad, I could smell smoke so strongly that I feared another fire might have started. But the only one burning has been Santa Barbara. I didn't get just a whiff; it was strong enough that I felt the need to cough. My eyes felt gritty, too, but there were also some dust devils blowing up because I could hear small pebbles hitting the windows so that might have contributed to the dry eyes, along with the non-existent humidity.

I am about 100 miles from Santa Barbara and the smell was strong for a good hour until the wind changed again. A friend not far from me could see smoke from her back yard.

Funny how air currents move. I'm in Thousand Oaks, and the air is very clear and fresh here, and has been all week. But the temp is considerably cooler than the past 3-4 days. However, I did notice today, some 'haze' towards the ocean (12-14 miles as a crow flies). So the smoke must be by-passing us, and heading south. Hopefully, our Eagle families will be OK. :X:
