... but Dr. Sharpe, when you are up there on the nest, replacing the eaglets all safe and sound, do you have any special little prayer or thing that you say to them before you turn them loose on the world? Whenever I've rescued a cat and find a home for it, I have to whisper in its ear, something I hope that just lodges in their soul as they go away from me to start their lives. I was just wondering if you do something similar with these precious and beautiful eagles. It's silly, I know.... but I am curious.Lauri |

If I say anything it is either "good luck" or "I hope I never have to handle you again". |

Thank you for the response. I hope you never have to handle them again, either... those talons are wicked! Lauri |

I imagine it would be difficult to handle it again. Go fly to the sky and never touch ground except go to the little window and order a gopher or rabbit or salmon!! Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy!

Well said Dr. Sharpe. I remember last year all of us calling you to rescue Surprise after a low flying airlplane scared her off the nest into the brush below. You were a trooper, going to the WE late afternoon, and hiking in the dark to rescue her. So, for your sake, I hope you never have to handle them again! |

Given Dr. Sharpe's comments in the past about not wanting these wild birds to have any more human contact than necessary, I wonder if he was referring to the eagles' well-being and not his own, and hoping for their sake that he would never need to handle them again... Nina |

Nina: I think he meant for their sake....to have no need to have to handle them again. |
