Amanda, Rosanne, and I started our week on Santa Cruz Island with an eagle sighting of both A-11 and A-21 at Yellowbanks. We hadn't seen those birds in a long time, and it is very difficult to get confirmed tag IDs of these two birds because they usually perch so far away from us. That area of the island is also difficult to navigate with all the kelp, which prevents us from getting so close. However, this particular day, both eagles allowed us to approach very closely, so that we could identify them.

We headed out on a boat survey another day this past week as well surveying along the north shore of Santa Cruz heading towards Cueva Valdez. We couldn't find the Cueva birds, but on the way we did spot A-46 at Fry's Harbor. He seems to have taken a liking to that area of the island, perhaps a new territory in the making?

We also were able to get sightings of A-02 at Sauces this week, as well as A-64 flying around Fraser Point and later perched in the trees just outside Christy ranch house.

On our way out to survey one day, we spotted two eagles flying over us on the Navy Road on the way down to Prisoner's. They were too high to read tags, but we were able to get a couple photos.

This week, we had some other exciting eagle news about one of our eagles on the mainland. It seems that A-35 has taken a liking to the Santa Barbara Zoo. One of my friends who works there was able to get some photos of her, so as soon as she passes those along, we can share them with all of you.

That's all for this week. Cedrick and Suzanne are both out on Santa Cruz this coming week, so may have some more eagle news to report next week.

Thank you for another wonderful Update...glad you were able to get up close to A-11 & A-21.

There is an evergrowing number of locals who have seen A-35! Some coming a little bit out of their way to view her--which has been a real treat. Looking forward to your photos of A-35 that your friend took, Stephanie.

Thank you all for another great update! I just love days like this. I'm so glad so many sightings. A lot of us have been up to see beautiful A35, we've unoffically named her Her Highness. She loves to be photographed, and is just a joy to see. I'm also thirlled about you seeing Spirit, A64, that's just the best news! Have a wonderful week and wishing you all great eagle watching weather.

Oh, great update! And a Spirit sighting, too... I was wondering about him last week (I think I goofed and said Skye, though!). Glad to know he is sticking around the island.

Now, if we can just get another Cruz sighting....

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the birds... how exciting to get to watch them and be a part of this repopulation effort! It is truly wonderful.

Congratulations on the confirmed sighting of A-11 and A-21! :ok: Nice of them to finally let you read their bling.

Lots of wonderful eagle activity - overjoyed to hear that A-64 is still around and :X: that A-46 will make the island his home.

:)^ Thanks for all you do and thanks for a great update!

Steffani, Roseanne and Amanda--Love all your eagle photos--the second one of A21 over the water is especially pretty --with the wing tips splayed out. Really, really happy to hear A64 is still out there on the Islands.

Each new sighting of A46 since his return is good news too--possibly he will actually stay after all this time and his travels way up the mainland coast . Just needs to find a interesting and interested mate. :)^

Thank you so much for taking the time to get some great pictures for us! Glad to hear of all the eagle sightings and I am so excited that Spirit is still in the islands! I hope you can get a picture of him sometime. I would love to see if he is still sporting his surfer dude blond feathers.
