Stephanie -- wonderful update. Good luck with your trapping. I don't think there was great success last year. K10 and K26 :soar: :soar: also eluded the traps I believe last year. They are pretty crafty! Something tells me A64 may have inherited some of those crafty genes. Glad to know he's doing so well. He's really become an island dude! Thanks again for the wonderful update. I always love hearing of the eagles on the island, but especially love hearing about Spirit! He is definitely a favorite of mine. :><:

I know it is important for the Eagle Research but I share Sara's feelings too--Quoting SaraOh :
"Sorry you weren't successful in your mission, but I'm secretly glad the eagles are so hard to catch"

I had to quote this, as it is my feeling also.
I can just picture K-10 and K-26 "laughing" at your tries.rofl rofl

Dear Steph,

What a great update! And a Spirit sighting to boot!

Do you guys start to feel the eagles are smarter than you guys are? rofl

They seem to get smarter every year!

I'm not a fan of gulls... I grew up near San Francisco Bay and one day, I was jus just sitting, minding my own business when a gull swooped low and left a nice, runny white deposit on my head! I begged my P.E. teacher to let me go home and wash my hair! Right there and then and she let me. Ugh. Ever since then, if a gull is coming my way, I go the other way! Dirty, sneaky birds.

I'm glad that Spirit is healthy and well.

How many times have I been in Prisoner's Harbor and here is an eagle in the huge eucalyptus tree... that is super!... I do remember my first trip there and was greeted by K-26 and K-10.... Thanks for the great report Steph.... :}^

It turned out to be A-64, but he was uninterested in coming down for our fish. It's possible he has not acquired the skills to catch his fish in the ocean yet.

I am glad that A-64 is waiting to hone his skills before attempting an ocean catch... considering how we have lost some juveniles who drowned perhaps attempting to catch a meal. It would definitly break my heart if we lose A-64. He reminds me of our beloved Limuw. As for K10 and K26.. good luck trapping these smart balds.... ;) I think they are on to the biologists LOL!!! :D
