Looks like your kiddies will need a new pool when they get here Hiker.... I'm shopping for a new one myself... girls are getting to be good little swimmers now... Sasha just swims in the "Lazy River" Water Park instead of floating on a tube... It's only three feet deep so I don't worry... but man, shes like a little dolphin....your camera will get a work out when they are here .. wow, have they all grown and look at how big Baila is.... about two years old????

Oh, and speaking of the water park.. for you locals... instead of paying $12.00 each for all day at the park you can go in from 4:00 to 6:00 during the week or 5:00 to 7:00 fri and sat... for only $5.00 ea.. and two hours is plenty!....great for those hot afternoons that won't cool down....

During the winter season, we went to a lot of music sessions all over the area. One of the musicians I enjoyed was a man who played the accordian. In fact, he had about four or five with him of all kinds - large and really small. It was fun to see what he could do. We had a lady at Port Aransas who played the standard large accordian. Tuesday night, we went to the local jam session. One of the guys who is MEGA talented and must be in his 70s - plays an electric keyboard. He sounds like the old "honky tonk piano players" and can play any song - no sheet music. One of the guys was going to sing a song, and he asked Bill (on keyboard) to give him a little banjo. Half way through the song, he switched to something else, and I couldn't think of what it was. Later, talking to him, he switched to accordian! It was great. It is amazing what those electric keyboards can do. Another musician on a more modern keyboard can start a beat going or harmony to what he is playing. He also sings, and when he gets to the chorus, he hits a button, and it sounds like several people singing together. Really nice. Another fun instrument is the harmonica. We have a family who play. Did you know there is a harmonica - if you are going to play a song in the key of C, one for the key of A, one for F, and so on and so one. One is a base (sp?) and is the granddaddy of all harmonicas. We often joke that on some songs, he has to get from a low note to a high note and back so fast, that if he's not careful, he's going to get whiplash! (Note: was going to post video, but is too large. Will edit and try to post later.) |
