PENNY: They grow a lot of Gerberas here in my town commercially but I've never seen one like that! Beautiful!! Almost looks like a Dahlia.

I received the book: "Gifts of an Eagle" yesterday... so will start reading that right now.... it about a Golden Eagle raised in captivity during the 60's.. but ends with his freedom... so am anxious to get started... I have another copy that I found and if you are interested, we can keep that one floating around... just tell me if you'd like to be next.... :soar:

I'd like to be on that list somewhere! Sorry I've been MIA lately - soooo busy at work and I've redecorated, painted - had to put it all back together....

Laurie's surgery was yesterday. I talked to the doctor last night and then went there to wait until she was sent to her room. She's in a lot of pain again and nauseous. Don't know how long she will be there she hopes til tomorrow. I talked to her before lunch and she sounded better but she still hasn't had anything but jello and apple juice since yesterday at 7 a.m.

The doctor said the bone had started to heal within the last couple weeks. He hesitated to go in but there was bone spur and the nerves were stretched and one was attaching itself to that bone spur. He took out the plate, 15 screws one of which the a**hole doctor put in her elbow!!!!!!!!!, cut off the spur and sewed her backup without using a new plate. Although the two stretched nerves were very"angry" he thinks they will be okay. She is going in on Tuesday for dynamic splints they will put on her wrist so the nerves and wrist can heal correctly and she will also be starting occupational therapy. He is concerned about the wrist and he was blown away that that first doctor never had her on physical therapy of any kind.

I'm leaving for Sedona tonight, she is staying with a friend as her roommates are out for the weekend too. I'll try to post some pictures when I get home Monday night :D

Penny I thought your flower picture was great. But like Lala I thought it was a Dahlia too. That grave story  seasick :8O: all equally!!

Marti sounds like fun. We have outdoor concerts around here too that are enjoyable to sit outside and listen to. Love the summer activities.

Deb nice to know you take such good care of the scouts. Hope they and the parents appreciate all your hard work. But no one ever knows except the person doing it!

Peetie I sympathize. I thought no big deal too. Just replace the broken tooth. Not so fun. If it's in the front of the mouth it WILL hurt more than the ones in the back. I was pretty miserable for quite a few days. :'( So sorry.

Hiker whatcha doin when the babies get here? I'd be counting the days. They look like they know how to combat the heat!!

Penny I laughed out loud over the squish picture today....It just makes me want to squish him in my arms!

Hoping to get my super duper BBQ tomorrow. I was going to get a blue one but that was going to be another $60 and I don't think it's worth it. Black will do just fine. I'm going to have to have a couple of BBQ's to make it worthwhile....I wonder who might benefit from that? There must be someone around that would enjoy coming to the beach for food????? A Cruzer event???

Sun shinning outside...back when it's gone!!!

Oh forgot to tell you that Edison is shutting off the electricity again. People here created a huge fuss over them shutting it off at night after this murder. So now they are turning it off from 5am to 5pm. Fine with me, Prefer the daylight than the night for sure! Guess the "power" of the people is powerful.

Speaking of free summer concerts....tonight is a blues band at Chase Palm Park in Santa Barbara....6-8pm. This is #2 in a series of 5 for the next 4 Thursday evening. Bring your blanket/chair and a picnic dinner...also your dancing shoes if you're so inclined. These are great fun, very relaxing, and good people watching as well!

Next week is my favorite one: Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries...they play every year...'50s music and quite the entertainers.

Sandie: why are they shutting off your power for 12 hours at a time??? What about people who work out of their homes.....and refrigerated food...and kids home on summer vacation??

Just wanted the Cruzers to know, Hulabird is in the hospital and very ill. She's in terrible pain, and they hope to do surgery tomorrow. Apparently, she has a bleeding ulcer and a hernia. Please send good thoughts for her, she really needs it. <3
