I'm taking my mom to Ventura today.. first time in about two years... she is going to use her walker ... it has been a roadblock to her getting out.. she didn't want to be seen with one...and too unsteady with the cane... so will give it a go and maybe lunch and a margarita...that should perk her up... Last year the roadrunner was here with a lizard in his mouth... always glad to see him and he does lots of running and not much standing around.... |

For Vina, Laurie & Hula ![]() Hope you're feeling better, Jann. Been a hectic week. My thick-furred Sharpei mix, Cookie, killed two House finch chicks, and in the course of my burying the one left with enough remains to do so, I locked myself out of the house. Cookie is a great dog, but kills for sport, and it makes me crazy when she gets chicks fallen out of nests or newly fledged, as one appeared to have been. Death of the wife of a high school friend...great guy & wife, this week. She was a little girl who lived on the street above us when we first moved to Camarillo in 1959-ish. Her sister was in my class and one of the nicest persons I've ever known. Gentle & kind; the best. No tricks up the sleeves with these daughters. A sad week. Camarillo had amazingly kind teenagers during my era, with many of us locals celebrating this fact. I was lucky to have a good start with people and very saddened to lose one so early. She was maybe 58 or 59. Heart attack. |

Just a wing up to all who may be undergoing eaglet withdrawl symptoms now as ours are for the most part fledged. The lesser spotted eagle , "Spot", on the estonian eagle forum is to be "Ringed" on sunday weather permitting. Spot is a little older than 5 weeks so banding is comming for him/her links to camera for the lesser spotted eagle and the white tailed eagle are here Estonian eagle cameras One thing nice with the estonian cameras is that there are way longer days for we eagle voyeurs to view the camera. I think sunset there is roughly 10PM and sunrise is about 4am so those of us who are night owls can get an eagle fix when the american eagles are all tucked in their little nests ![]() EDITED: for your convienience Estonia is + 7 hours from here in the east coast of us and +10 for you on the nest coast which means if we were to want to stay glued to our monitors we could have all eagles all the time

Maybe next time....I know where it is.George thanks for all the advice last night. It's the same one that ER showed me a few nights ago. Yup that's what I want ok. Wow...lots of ailments for us today. Prayers for all that need it and one on top. Vickie are they doing hernia surgery? I hope it all comes out well. Two surgeries back to back is just not good. It must be serious to do that. Poor little angel. Laurie should be getting out today right? I am hoping she will get the help she needs. It can be really rough on you if you have never had this kind of thing happen. You are not prepared. Jann are you being good? Glad to see you posts once in awhile. What in the world happened to Vina? What happened to her??? Lala I understand the walker bit. I didn't want anyone to see me either. Such vanity I had too. Jeesh. I'm glad I don't have to use one now....but I see it in my future I think. Margarita huh???? Hmmm I'd go for one of those. Have you gone to the new Wood Ranch at the shopping center yet? Oh and I noticed Brophy Bros from Santa Barbara opened one at the Harbor. I haven't been yet but I do want to go. You get to see the greatest wildlife around, that roadrunner was really cute. Uh badee badee badee that's all folks....I remember that so well. |

I just got back from helping a friend place two new geocaches out on the Carpinteria Bluffs. It's a nice area for walking with the new trails. The seals and pups season is over but it's still a beautiful and easy 2 mile walk. There are two or three other caches out there as well. She's heading down to Huntington Beach next week and I told her there's a MUST find cache down there. I believe Vina had knee(s) surgery. Sandie: they have those little Audobon eagle beanies at the Channel Islands Visitor Center, too...reasonably priced. You might want to call first as I bought the last one they had at the time when I was there in June. |
